Hello all! I've been lurking on this board for awhile and I hope that everyone gets a BFP soon! I've been off of BC since July and TTC since October. Since coming off of BC my cycles have been 26/27 days long and very regular. Well, in November I got surprised by AF on day 22...at least I think that it was AF. If it was AF, she only visited for 2 days which is kind of odd. Taking that to be AF, I am now on day 30 of my current cycle. I have never gone past 28 days since getting my very first period. I had an ultrasound about 2.5 weeks ago and I know that I cannot be pregnant because my OB-GYN told me that they could tell that I hadn't even O'd. Can you see that on an ultrasound? Plus, just in case she was wrong and because I'm paranoid, I took a test this morning. BFN. So, what's going on? Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I don't even feel like AF is going to start anytime soon...none of the usual signs. I'm assuming that I should still have an AF even though I didn't O, right? This is so frustrating!

Hi LEJ79, I am also fairly new to the boards! I can sympathize with your frustration! I don't normally have regular cycles(and have thought I was preggo like a million times), but I can tell you that when I went to my ultrasound after not having my period for 2 mos that they told me I had follicles growing and that is what told them I hadn't yet ovulated and where I was in my cycle. I think that is how they know you haven't Oed. The 2 day period you speak of may have just been spotting. I get that sometimes, where its not like your other periods, its just too short (for me) so I usually count that as spotting. Your cycles can be thrown off for many reasons including illness, stress, horomone imbalance(me), or any other number of things. I have read that if you are ttc and are kinda stressing over it, waiting for your period (and what all else we do when ttc!)that it can thow you off as well. Also about the having a period and not Oing...My drs told me that when you dont O your body can be lacking in estrogen or progesterone(sp) and then eventually your lining will become unstable and you will get your period- not nescessarily on a regular basis just when it finally becomes unstable...I have no idea what exactly this means but that is how one dr describled it to me- Like a brick wall with out mortar once it gets high enough with out the glue it will become unstable and fall down. hope this helps a little! :)

Thanks for the reply! AF finally did come to visit yesterday (CD 31). I have really mixed feelings about it. Since I didn't O, I had wanted AF to hurry up and show up so that I could get started on a new cycle. But, when AF got to be so late, I couldn't help but hope that the doctors might have been wrong afterall. So, I was happy and disappointed that AF showed up.
To make matters worse, if I do O this cycle, it will most likely be while we are staying with relatives out of state for Christmas. Is it just me or does anyone else feel pretty weird about DB'ing in someone else's house...especially relatives!
