Hi Guys,
Well today is a new day....let the research begin. A few years back I read an article that a lot of Americans are going to Argentina to have IVF because there is great care and is much more cost effective. Has anyone heard anything about this before????
My DH is from Argentina and if we do decide to do IVF we may consider going there. Any info anyone may have would be greatly appreciated. Any more information that I can find I will pass on in case anyone else in interested.
Thanks

Hi Kathy,
I've never heard anything on this before, but I would certainly be interested in getting additional information if anybody has anything to offer. I think it's a great idea to check out all options and get as much information as possible when we are fighting such an important battle.
Good luck to you! Sprinkling lots of BABY DUST around the board....

Hi Holly!!
Thanks for the support!!! I tried to find the article I read about North Americans going to Argentina for IVF but it is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. In any event I wanted to tell you that my MIL has a friend who lived in the States and went back to Argentina for IVF it cost her 9,000 pesos which is 3,000 american dollars for everything. Given you would have living expenses and need to take time off work but my IL's live there most of the year so I can stay with them. If lap comes back with nothing I will strongly consider going over there for IVF. I will fly there and get more information 1st though. I will keep you posted on how it goes. Thanks for the encouragment!!!!!

Kathy, it sounds like that could be a really great option for you. It would be a huge savings, and as long as the care is good quality, there's really no reason you shouldn't consider it. And I'm sure your in-laws would love to do their part in helping you and DH start your family by letting you stay with them. I wish we had some family over there. ;) Good luck to you!! I will be praying that it all works out for you guys. :D

Hi Kathy,
I found a clinic in argentina that does the ivf procedures for under $5k and it includes accommodation as well. I'm not sure how good the clinic is.
Good Luck and hope this bit of information help.

Hi everyone,
I've never heard of this but wanted to chime in because I just went to Argentina in September. Wish I knew and I could have had an IVF done then! Just kidding ;)
But seriously, if anyone was considering it my DH and I found the country extremely reasonable when it came to hotels, eating out, ect. It is a lot cheaper than the US. So expenses probably wouldn't be as much as you think. Plus, the country is beautiful, people are super friendly, and english is widely spoke in Buenous Aires, so you would love your stay there.
Good luck Kathy if you decide to go there. It sounds like it could be a great option for you.

Thanks everyone!! I am still a few months away from making a full fledged decision but I want to keep you guys posted as an option for those who can't afford it here in the U.S. DH and I can probably do it here but it will really out us in a tight spot. My cousin went to Medical School in Argentina and I know from her and my DH that the care there is very good.
I will keep you guys posted- Tini Gracias!!! Thanks so much for the info I will look into it.
Argie is beautiful so I recommend anyone to go even if it is just for a visit!!!
