Does Cortizone 10 clear up Herpes?

I noticed a strange red mark on my penis about 10 days after unprotected sex. No pain, no iching and no burning. Of course I still paniced and have been obsessing since then. I contined masterbating on a daily basis and the mark got bigger.

Its now about 22 days since the mark appeared and 2 days ago I started using Cortizone 10 (that I bought from Eckerds for ringworm I previously had on my stomach) and the red is pretty much gone. There is a strange black line like a healed cut there now. Not sure what it is but just curious if Cortizone will clear up a Herpes outbreak. Any response would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Not to panic you but the only symptom of herpes my BF gets in just a red bump on his penis...not very big...just looks like what a mosquito bite would look like and lasts a little bit longer than a week. Neither of us had a clue that herpes could look like that so we had unprotected sex and BINGO I all of a sudden broke out in a horrible OB and then quickly realized(after researching) that sometimes the only clue of herpes is just a red spot. I would say that a red bump that lasts for a long time...a few weeks...would definately throw up a red flag to go and have a culture done and see if you have herpes. Don't assume that because a bump goes away then it's not herpes because herpes lesions don't just stay there, they do go away after a week to even a month. There's not much that you can do to make them heal faster...pretty much they just have to run their course and then they go away. Cortisone cream would help to ease itching...that's about it.

So since my last post I went the doctor who confirmed that it was Herpes. He didn' take any blood tests or anything...just diagnosed from looking at it. He put me on Valtrex 2 times a day which I thought was helping but today it feels like I'm having an outbreak. I'm only on the 3rd day of the medicine but how could I be having an outbreak while on the Valtrex? I'm having a lot of discomfort and itching. I'm trying not to scratch the area to prevent irritation. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Also, I have been reading alot of older posts and it has really helped me come to grips with the fact this is my reality and its not the end of the world which I thought it would be. I wish there were more posts from male readers. Anyway thanks again.

Valtrex and other antivirals don't work for everyone.

Well having herpes certainly doesn't mean that you are bad in any way...I have been with 2 men in 25 years and I got herpes from my BF and he had not been with anyone but his long term GF for about 12 years before me. Maybe not more men post because I don't think that they have as bad of symptoms as women and just write it off as jock itch or simply ignore it and it goes away.
