Hello all,
I'm new here. We've just recently made the decision to try to conceive.
I'm 32, diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis at 21. I stopped taking progestin to control the endo about 6 months ago.
The problem I'm having is my cycle is irregular. My last 5 cycles have been 33 days, 26 days, 24 days, 27 days, and 24 days respectively. This is wreaking havoc on my timing. To add to the frustration, my husband and I are currently in different states (job situation).
I've purchased the ovulation microscope - really nifty by the way - and ovulation testers. Of course I just began using them because we've been unsuccessful so far.
Is there any way to predict with greater accuracy when I'm going to ovulate in advance so I can take time off of work - or he can - to be together to accomplish our dream of a family? With my currently fluctuating cycle, a typical window of 4 days turns into a week!
I was counting on a 27 day this month and got a 24 - We had planned on trying for our family on new years (neither of us could get xmas off) - but now - after plane tickets have been purchased and time off was given, my calculations show that we'll miss ovulation.
Any Advice anyone?

Welcome to the TTC board! This is definately a crazy time of your life so you have found the perfect place to get support and advice!:)
I am 25 and DH is 29 and we have been trying for our first for 11 months with a break in between and one miscarraige at 5 weeks.
Well unfortunately there is no way to tell in advance when ovulation will occur. My cycles are similiar to yours...they vary each month. But DH and I are both home so it doesn't affect things too much. I personally chart my basal body temperature along with my cervical mucous. The tricky thing about temping though is that it won't be clear when you have ovulated until after it has already happened and it is too late. With my cervical mucous (CM), I generally get fertile CM for 5-7 days before ovulation happens. You can tell it is fertile when it is watery or wet, stretchy, and clear. (Kinda looks like raw egg whites). It also will become more abundant during this time. Like I said, I can get it for up to a week before ovulation, but every women is different. I would recommend keeping track of it...and you may have to find it internally.
Good luck and remember, sperm can live inside of you for up to 5 days!!!!

Welcome, sounds like you're doing everything right. Hopefully once your DH's job is finished, TTC will become easier. Good luck. :)

Thank you for your support! I appreciate it!
Thank you also for the suggestions. But - what's basal body temp? How do you take it. And as for cervical mucous... how do you tell - I mean... how do you... get it? I understand the concept of egg whites - I love eggs... but I never notice that coming out of me...
I'm sorry - I'm really - inexperienced (to put it nicely) at this... as I'm positive you've noticed....
Please forgive my... naivety... But tell me more - anything helps.

Well...unfortunately...to see what your CM is like, you have to check internally. Like literally stick your finger in there and scoop some out! LOL! It sounds grosse but after awhile of doing it it's really no big deal:D There are many different types of CM: sticky, creamy, watery, and eggwhite. When it is watery or eggwhite you can assume ovulation is coming soon!
Basal body temperature is a special kind of temperature. You have to buy a basal body thermometer, which is available at most pharmacies, and you take your temp as soon as you wake up in the morning before getting out of bed. And you must have had at least 3-4 hours of sleep before hand. You also have to take it at the same time everyday, and try not to move around too much before taking it. It sounds tricky but you also get the hang of it after awhile. You keep track of your temp on a chart (you can find sites online that provide charts). You will see when you have ovulated when your chart become bi-phastic (two levels of temperatures). Your temps will be much higher after ovulation. On my chart, I actually see a huge dip in temp for one day which is ovulation day, and then the next day it takes a huge spike and stays higher, indicating that I have ovulated.
Hope this helps and if you have any more questions feel free to ask!!!:)
