This is my 2nd miscarriage and the dr wants to do a D&C friday to test the tissue and see why this is happening. Has anyone gotten answers to why these miscarriages happen? I thought that no one really knows why, it just happens.

Anyway, either way it is really sad news. I know what other women are going through and my heart goes out to everyone going through this.

Thanks for all your advice on this.

Is your doctor a reproductive endocrinologist? Or a normal OBGYN. I know this is your second m/c so its most likely just an OB doc. And also as I read, you have had a successful pregnancy?

After my second m/c my regular OB did a load of blood work to rule out some problems....but all came back neg. After my last m/c #3, I was sent to a reproductive Endo. but I had just had my D&C the day before so they couldn't do any tests till my body healed some...he said come back this month, Dec . when I get my period.

Maybe you might be able to get referred to an RE if they don't findout with the upcoming D&C.

Its so frustrating isn't it not knowing why this type of thing keeps happening? Its like I have never been really sick in my life..just the flu and never thought I would have this sort of problem. It mystifies me.

I hope you are lucky though. I will keep you in my prayers. Take care--Jess

Jess,

Thank you for your kind words and prayers.

Like you, I've never been sick, and yes, my first pregnancy was successful. When the 1st m/c happened i thought it was a fluke or something. Now this time I don't know what to think. I started to think: did I lift something too heavy? Did I eat something bad? What did I do wrong? But I know that it's not me or anyone else going through this. It just happened and hopefully there are answers so it does not happen again.

My dr is a regular ob/gyn, but specializes in high risk pregnancies. I went to him because they found a fibroid with my first pregnancy and I had a c-section.

Let me know what happens with your next appointment. My thoughts are with you and I hope you get the answers you are seeking.

Testing on the fetus can tell you if you were carrying a healthy fetus or not. If there were chromosomal reasons for your loss, testing can often tell you that. Since your loss was early testing will not tell you if there were placental issues that caused your loss.

You're likely to get some info although possibly not what you need to know for a subsequent pregnancy.

My suggestion would be that you see an RE who can test you more thoroughly.

One thing I just wanted to say. All kinds of drug addicts go on to deliver babies to full term often, and most times those babies come out pretty normal. So when I wonder well.. what did I do to maybe have caused my misscarriage? When I am feeling down on myself thinking that makes me feel a little better..... because it wasn't you. It wasnt anything you lifted or having sex or even having that one drink of alcohol that night out to dinner before you knew you were pregnant. Babies in the womb are pretty tough. And a person can go NUTS! trying to think of all the what ifs.

I know how easy it is to blame yourself. Sometimes its easier to do that than to accept the truth, for the truths harder to find.

Jess,

You read my mind. What's woman to do????? I've taken my prenatal vitamins, other vitamins, eaten my fruits and veggies, drank lots of water, kept away from sushi...
I wish I knew why this happens. This is my 2nd miscarriage in 4 months...it's so depressing. How do you keep your head up?
