Hi all. We have been TTC for 2 years. All normal bloodwork, he came back fine, HSG was perfect, IUI is next. I have been really stressed this past month and now my period is 5 days late. I am never late so I will attribute it to stress. I am having slight cramping and that's it. I don't want to test because I told myself 6 months ago I saw my last BFN and I wont test again till I am "late, late" So now I am later that usual and know it is stress related...is it possible to skip a cycle all together? How late will stress make AF?

Did you have stress before or after you ovulated? If you had it before you ovulated then I'm not sure how long that will make you late. If you didn't have stress until after you ovulated then it would not affect your cycle length. Since the time you ovulate and start your period is almost always the same amount of time each month. So if you had stress afterward you ovulated then test! I know what you mean about not wanting to see the BFN. I've seen way too many myself!!! Good luck!!

I don't want to get your hope up, but I would say that I would take a test. I know that it is so hard to see the BFN, but if you are never late, 5 days is pretty far off from your normal cycle. Think, if it is a positive, you don't want to put that off;)
Best of luck to you!

The stress was before and after...I remember even feeling like I was ovulating a week later than normal (I get cramping on one side) so I think that is what it was...stupid stress:rolleyes:
I am sure that I will be typing a message soon that says AF is here...I hate to have such a negative outlook on things but it's hard when it's the same thing every month. But yeah, there was stress BEFORE ovulation so that makes the chance of a BFP even more less likely...Who ever knew it would be so hard??

stress can cause a late period, but it doesnt always do that.. no matter how stressed i am, ive never been late like that! you said youve never been late before? does that mean youve never stressed before?? youve been ttc for quite some time, so im sure you have gotten stressed while trying, and those times it showed up on time.. im just trying to shed some hope, i do understand not wanting to get your hopes up, when i swear im not preggo and other friends insist i am, i just dont want to talk about it, bc i dont want a let down, of course im praying they are right and im wrong.. well 5 days is almost a week late, and you are probably stressing more now because your late, so that could just make it later (if it is on its way), so wouldnt it be better to take a test? i know you will be let down if its negative, but the unknown can cause a whole lot more stress!!!!

Five days late, I would probably test too. And I'm not much of a tester - haven't taken one in years. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you luck, and I pray AF is not coming for at least 9 months!

Hi there Hanks Mom!

Wanted to see how you were doing today and see if you decided to test. Five days late is a lot so even though it can be stress related you may be missing out on the joy of a BFP!!!! I know it's scary but you will find out one way or another and the waiting must be agonizing in itself. So I hope whatever you decide to do it's what's right for you. Lot's of luck to you I hope that this is your month for a BFP!!!!

Please keep us posted and hang in there!!! BABY DUST blowing your way!!

Hi Hanksmom,
I wanted to check in and see how things are going...any sign of AF yet? If not, have you decided if you will take a hpt? I am thinking of you;)

Thank you, thank you all for the words of encouragement. Well, AF came yesterday a.m. but I was expecting it...
I know everyone says we have to have a positive outlook, but it's hard...
We don't start our 1st IUI until March. The RE says that with both of us testing fine and being relatively young (28/31) it is the way to go. Part of me wanted to skip to IVF because the success rates for IUI just seem so low. I am newer than most to this, when it comes to how far we have gotten in treatment. I was happy to find out that the was nothing "wrong" with either of us but that makes is frustrating to wonder why these past 2 years have brought nothing? Maybe we are trying to hard...
Can anyone tell me anything about their IUI? And again thank you for your responses, I think it is a big help to talk. Merry Christmas to you all:wave:
