NOt sure, so far this is the only one I know of that won't interfere. I had 3 doctors already tell me that Wellbutrin is not good for BIpolar and can actually be bad for me. But they have decided that since it's working, they will leave it alone. They said that I should be on another medication in addition to it to take care of the mood swings, but so far, I have been able to put up with them. I have been hanging in there, and it's working out. They said that if I feel like I can't handle it, I should call and they will give me additional medication.
But ideally, you need more than just Wellbutrin, which is only an antidepressant. I am not a doctor, and everyone is different, but this is what I was told when I saw the doctor last time.

I'm on wellbutrin and am all over the place. One day I'm manic, the next I'm in the deepest form of depression. The sexual part is fantastic though. I actually feel normal in that department. Maybe a little more than normal. It makes me more manic than depressed. I actually enjoy the manic phases. I guess sometimes people get addicted to the feeling.

My pdoc refused to put me on wellbutrin w/o a mood stabilizer in place.

Work with your dr. or pharmacist. They may have some info.

Good luck!

Rainboe: I wanted to ask you, are you better now with the Wellbutrin than before even with the mood swings? Just wondering, because I am feeling that way, but the swings are faster so I recover from the depressive state sooner than before. I used to be down for a couple of weeks, then up a little for 2 days, then down again. Now I don't usually stay down for more than a day at a time. And it's easier to get myself going even though I am low, I can help myself now. I just was wondering because your ex[perience sounds familiar. I suppose I can't expect to stabilize without additinal medication.
But I can deal with this. Are you on Wllbutrin only? 150? My doctors have thought about doubling it to 300 on me, but they said it'sy choice for now. I want to keep it as low as I can.
I remember RUth said that we can help ourselves sometimes, we should not just rely on the meds to fix us. That's why I try to keep it low dosage, and try to deal.
How do you do it?
Thanks

I think the wellbutrin helps with my depressive states. I'm on geodon and I'm supposed to be on trileptal to control anger but I haven't been taking it. I have had times were I went into a really depressed stage just being on the wellbutrin, and I've had bad manic episodes... but nothing I can't handle. I'm taking 150. So far I like it pretty much.
