Hi guys,
Quick question. If you are diagnosed with BPPV, but have only had 2 vertigo attacks (I mainly just have random dizzy spells throughout the day - no rhyme or reason), can sinus problems make your BPPV worse? I had an MRI and my ENT doc said I have sinus problems which are NOT causing the vertigo but could make it worse. Just curious to what you guys think. :) Thanks!

Hi Alwayshotroddin
Absolutely---while sinus problems can cause---symptoms--such as u would get in an Vestibular(Inner ear) problem---the Dx of BPPV---would lead one to believe---that BPPV would be the cause of the vertigo and that sinus problems---aggravate it.
BPPV---is one of the few---inner ear problems---that is easy---to Dx---in that there is a "latency" and "fatiguing" to the vertigo---not in all cases---but in the Marjory---sinus problems---normally do not have that.

Hi Subs,
Thanks for the quick reply. My ENT doc wrote me a script for Clarinex to help with the sinus problems. I want to take it in case the sinuses are aggrivating the BPPV but I was wondering if Clarinex might make you dehydrated since it is an antihistamine? My gyno thinks that my Birth control might be dehydrating me because my 2 vertigo attacks have both occurred on the Sunday before I start my period. If she is right then I don't want to take any sinus medicine that would dehydrate me even more. Right now I'm doing an "experiment" I guess you could say to see if I have another vertigo attack next Sunday (again the Sunday before I start my period) so I wanted to wait til then to start the Clarinex in case the BC is the true culprit. I guess maybe this is a question for the pharmacist lol but if you have any insight that would be wonderful. Thanks!
