I get a coldsore every single time I have my period. And then I get it other times too. Lovely.
Is there anything to combat the frequency of it besides taking a pill every day? I use Zovirax and I mix some Abreva with it. But lately it hasn't been any help at all. Is it possible that I developed an immunity to those medications??????
I also apply nail polish remover to dry it out. I used to try to drain the liquid but that seemed to just make it angrier.
AND, another very important question.
Are they close at all to developing a cure (not treatment!!!) to this annoying affliction?

I wish I could offer more help but have you tried something as simple as Carmex? My BF was using everything he could think of and Carmex does more good than anything else he's tried. Lysine and Abreva did NOTHING! He was putting that strong rubbing alcohol(91%) on them like you with the acetone(to dry) but all it was doing was aggravating it more! Carmex has been around forever and is FOR cold sores. Some people are having luck with putting Nyquil on the sore??? Couldn't hurt to try it...my BF has not tried the Nyquil treatment though. I wish there was a cure but I have not heard anything about a cure...I may be mistaken in this but as I recall I was reading that viruses are not curable?
