A very good find! Should be put in the Information Archive (if it isn't already)!

Good article...thanks for posting.

Hi Robyn (DB),

How are you doing these days? Well I'm shooting for year three to be my year. Hope you have shown greater improvements this year! My headaches (the painful ones) have seemed to improve greatly, but am still having problems in other areas.

Will chat more soon, I'm exhausted after battling the grocery store.....have a nice holiday - Gloria

This is one of the best articles I have read on this topic possibly ever. I wonder if they have any updates since the publishing in 1993. Good find.

Hi Gloria!
Well, it's been two steps ahead, 1 2/3 back for me, as it is for most of us here! I guess I have to look at the busyness of my life to actually tell that I am SLOWLY improving - some days are good, others are bad. Those headaches you and I used to talk about are rare - I'm now left with my usual tension headaches that I've had practically all my life, but not that horrible knife-in-the temples one that I got on a regular basis early on with my VN. So glad to hear yours have eased up, too.

Have you tapered off the Klonopin? I'm still taking the 2 mg. diazapam - I know that some here would frown upon it, but I can actually live my life again, so for me, it's worth it. I have an overseas trip planned in 3 months - maybe I'll try to taper off by then. We'll see. I've got 2 dear friends, one with lymphoma, the other with multiple myeloma - they are fighting, literally for their lives.... it helps me put my remaining symptoms, as awful as they can be at times, into perspective. And if taking a tiny little pill helps me to be able to handle the more important things in life, I'm just not going to stress about it!!!!

Send me an update when you have a moment - I know this is a really busy time, but I'd love to hear how you've been, what's the latest news from the dr., etc.

Keep warm (I'm sure it's FREEZING in your neck of the woods!) and take care! And here's to year 3 being the best yet in terms of our recovery!!!!
Robin

Hi Nanlev,

Nice article. Interesting that in 1993 they hadn't yet made the herpes virus connection as a probable causative virus. Two interesting things they mention:

Following the acute attack, mild transitory episodes of dizziness may recur over a period of 12 to 18 months.

In younger adults one final condition to consider is multiple sclerosis. Multiple sclerosis does very rarely present as isolated vertigo, and when it does it may be impossible to distinguish from vestibular neuronitis until further evidence of central nervous system involvement emerges. It should be stressed that this presentation is rare, whereas vestibular neuronitis is common.

The article has been added to the Archive.

Best....Scott
