i noticed one thing on the thread by the original poster in a later post was that she said her husband had never been on any strong opioid for any extended period of time. that was likely her husband's biggest problem and i would question even continuing to see the prescribing doctor. this is a big message for her family and i hope it isn't removed or doesn't incite more controversy. i am very serious about this.
only patients that are tolerant of very strong opioids (and there is prescribing info with the patch that states what levels a patient should be tolerant to - meaning a max amount of such-and-such a drug does NOTHING for the patient anymore).
i hope she sees this comment and doesn't leave pain management. if her husband is going through long-term pain care, then she and he both can find this board invaluable!
