Okay, I have sinus infection, and my mom wantes to give me some amoxicillin, but I'm allergic to penicillin and I don't know if their is any difference between the two of them. Do any of you know the difference?

I want to take something that will work because having this sinus infecion is driving me crazy, and I can't exactly see a doctor for it being I don't have one at this point in time and I dont have medical insurance, or money to pay and go to a clenic.

I don't think antiobotics would help or are necessary for a sinus infection. A good product to clear out your sinuses would be Sudafed, I find that to work pretty good.

Again, antiobotics are just for infection and should not be over used or there effectiveness for when you really need them may be decreased from being over used.

A product such as sudafed will probably find you more relief, as it is designed for the problem you are having. If this doesn't help, go to your doctor for evaluation and treatment.

I looked it up and Amoxicillin is in the same class of drugs as penicillin. If you are allergic then do not take it. Its a drug used to fight off bacteria in the body. I have had serious sinus infections that don't like to go away and I had tried Sudafed and all the other OTC drugs first but to no avail. Amoxicillin is a drug my doctor would often prescribe me and its a drug taken for 10 days. Although I was prescribed a newer drug last time which I can't recall the name but it was only for like 3 days and it worked great.

Whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE AMOX. IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO PEN.!!!

You should never take someone else's drugs, period.

If you mom had taken the amoxi as prescribed, she shouldn't even have any anyway. When ever antibiotics are prescribed, you should ALWAYS take all of the pills. This is VERY important!

Never diagnose yourself. See a doctor.

There are clinics that would see you if you get sicker. A lot of med. universities offer on site medical care as well. If your mucos is not green, hopefully it is viral. Drink a lot of fluids, and the sudafed is a good idea. If it last over a week and you are feeling worse maybe yu should really go to see a doctor. Whatever the case a lot of fluids should help. Flush it out of your system. Also, there is a product called emergen-c (vit c powder drink) this will help your body to react and work on the infection as well. The emergen-c is about $8.65. It is NEVER wise to ever take anyone elses medications.:dizzy:
