 Hi Everyone,

I was inspired to write this thread after reading some of what Aimee and the rest of us have been going through with IF. It seems that even when everything is set up to go right, whether your tx is for IUI, IVF etc. or when they can't find anything at all, we are still left dumdounded with no explanation as to why some of us still have not concieved. I decided to do some research on nutrition and infertility and found a lot of information about increased reproductive health with diet and supplemental intake. There is information out there that indicates vitamin supplements can assist with both men and women's reproductive health inlduding but not limited to; hormone levels, egg quality, uterus implantation (Aimee for you!!), sperm count, quality and motility and can assist in the prevention of miscarriage. I have decided I am going to discuss this with my RE and see if he thinks this is beneficial and also see a nutritionist to ensure that DH and I take are being monitererd and take the appropriate dosages. I have no idea if this works or not but I thought what the heck!! We can give this a try!!! I got really excited and hopeful about the prospect that this my help not only me but all of us the board :blob_fire who still don't have a true reason why we still can not concieve. Even if you do have a dx it seems to be benenficial to research this. I don't think I can write out what vitamins I read about and what they do so I only wanted to let you guys know so that you can do your own research and discuss with your RE's. Seeing a nutritionist is not covered by my insurance and I know it is very expensive but we will manage.

If anyone has tried this or has more input I would love to hear about it :)

my re makes you see a dietician/nutritionist as part of the tx cycle.. i will admit i was good with all of it for a while, then once the hormones and everything else started i failed.. i actually lost about about 18 lbs, and my numbers (glucose, ldl, hdl etc etc.. everything was great! after i started eating as i was told, also i was on 2 fish oils (omega 3) a day, vit c daily, vit e 2 times a week, and of course prenatals.. but once i started stimming i got lazy and i was bloated all the time, and i started 4getting my vits and stopped eating like i was eating.. i went from 133lbs in the beginning of the cycle and by the time that i got my bfn i was 148.. not that is not the norm, but i went outta control.. i was so upset i dieted, quit smoking (for months b4 i started with treatment) and then no baby and i gained wait.. (when i quit smoking i was eating so well i didnt gain a pound!!!) either way nutrition cant hurt.. you will be healthier, you feel better, and all around its better, they say it helps IF, and at this point im sure a lot of us are willing to do anything.. i def say the vits are a good idea because if all your blood levels arent too good that can affect hormones etc.. :)

Hi Aimee,

Wow it sounds like you have a pretty good RE. Mine just said for DH and I to take a multi vitamin and that's it!! I read that Bioflavonoids found in may fruits and veggies help the uterus prepare for implamentation and prevent miscarriage. Maybe you can give that a try before you do IVF again. I also read it was just as important for Dh to take Vitamin E, C, Selenium as well as L-arginine and L-carnitine for sperm motility, count and quality!! There is some contraversy about vitamin A some say it is really important others not so much. But since you mentioned concern with implantation and the male factor I thought you can look into this, if you and DH havn't done so already. Best of luck to you and I hope your well :) My New years resolution--GET HEALTHY!!!

Oh by the way--I am so glad you quit smoking b/c I read there is a definite link with women smoking and infertility and for men it lowers sperm count and can increase # of abnormal sperm.
