Ok I'm 17 years old, and since I was second grade(I'm a senior in HS right now) I've had these black lines/marks on the lower part of my teeth. I assume they're cavities and lately due to financial and family problems for the past 4 years I am unable to go to the dentist. And I'm also embarrassed. I also have a small gap between my "buck teeth" and I was wondering of two things.

Are those lines/marks on the lower part of my teeth cavities? How can I remove them(obviously go to doctor, but what are they going to do, price?).

Secondly, how do I take away the gap. Ive saw the rubber band thing [removed], and i've searched on [removed] the internet about it and some people agreed and some people disagreed of its performance. Its possible long-term affects on your teeth, and it will only temporarily close it. I dunno which to believe, and besides braces/invisalign is their a better way of fixing it.

Thanks.

(The first question is more important)

If they are vertical or horizontal lines - they could be fractures of the tooth but if they are rounded indentations more likely cavities - it terms of treatment factures usually require crowns and cavities can be filled with white filling so they are not as noticable. For the samall gap you may want to consider bonding - its less invasive than braces and probably much cheaper - and if it falls off it can be replaced rather easily. If the gap increases you can then add to what is there. I'm sure if you check with a dentist there are probably other choices other than braces or bonding that might work just as well.

They're horizontal lines on the bottom of my teeth. During the past year, I've been brushing my teeth for 3-4 times a day and its it been slightly coming off on my front bottom teeth. But you can still see a stain. Is their anything besides crowning?

Ty for your reply.

Thank you very much.

Its not really the fact I'm embarrassed, its the fact I didn't do anything sooner. That's what makes me ashamed of going. I'll take your advice, I'm scheduling an appointment when I have a break. End of January I believe.

What could the lines be? Are they fractured tooth? What will probably I have to get? (Surgery, braces, crowns, etc.. - And will insurance cover it?)

Thanks again

I agree, it sounds like their grooves in your teeth that are stained.
Also, I wouldn't brush your teeth 3 to 4 times a day.
Once a day is good.
When you overbrush your going to do damage to the enamel on the tooth.
