I loved the way Abilify made me feel - improved my sex life, gave me motivation. But, it made me hungry, and gave me some akathesia.

I can't take any of the SSRIs becauase they bother my bladder. I have a very sensitive bladder. Even Effexor bothers my bladder. I have tried Cymbalta, but it causes bladder retention. Ugh!

Is there something I can add on to Abilify to make me a little nicer person that won't cause weight gain?

What about Wellbutrin XL 150 and Abilify?

I miss the Abilify.

Can you take lamictal?

No. Lamictil makes my mouth break out in sores.

Can't take Topamax or Zonegran either - gives me bladder problems.

I can take Wellbutrin.

I take the Abilify, Wellbutrin and Lamictal. They all seem to work together quite well. The Abilify did, however, cause weight gain for me. :( Normally in most people it causes weight loss or is weight neutral.

I have just started abilify and I was wondering what is a normal dosage of this medication? I got some sample packs and it is 10mg all the way. Don't they usually start small and build up? Just curious...

Btw I am taking lamictal with abilify. I was taking zoloft, but stopped taking that med. Wellbutrin seems like a good med if it didn't cause so much anxiety! (well, for me anyway! lol) Just be careful and watch out for that side effect. I don't know, maybe if I would have stuck it out longer the anxiety would have calmed down. But I just couldn't stand it! I started having panic attacks and had high levels of anxiety a lot of the time.

Anyway, I wish you well and hope you can find a med that works well for ya to go along with the abilify.

Can you take welbutrin every other day? I did this one day and seems to have really helped me that day not feel so down. When I stopped taking welb xl about 3 weeks. I took about 6and half weeks and felt wonderful then the anger started. I think I was getting a little manic. Then I stopped and felt better. Started to feel a little bad and took for one day and really felt better. Maybe coincidence. Don't know. Thanks for all the great advice you guys give. Leasa

Kudos on paying such close attention, micro-tweaking the drugs really helps us to better achieve stability and respond to the ever-changing symptoms.

What about remeron? I don't think it is supposed to cause much weight gain, and it really helped me. Depending on symptoms, I vary between 15 and 45 mg a day. Good luck! P.S. I take 5 mg a day abilify, and am going to ask to up to 10mg in 2 pills, to give me more opportunity to respond to symptoms. Just fyi.

I am goingto doc on fri. Going to ask him about remeron, abilify (already slowing down in this drug-halfing 15 mg to 7.5mg halfing pill) and depakote. I am sooo confused about meds now but after this last horrible year (I tried to check out once and thought about it many times) I don't want to ever feel out of control again. I am going to be very aggresive. ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO GIVE SUCH WONDERFUL ADVICE, KUDOS TO YOU. YOU HAVE HELPED ME TAKE CONTROL OF MY LIFE. YOU GUYS MEAN ALOT TO ME!
