i have been in pain manag. since june and on percs started on 5 mg but now up to 7.5 every 4-6 hrs. anyways im a naturally hot natured person and also everytime i take the percs i get hot which makes me even hotter i was just wondering for anybody here whos been on percs a while if that ever goes away or does your body ever adjust to it because being hot natured plus the heat the percs give off makes you miserable especially in summer.

I'm not sure what you mean by "hot natured." Do you mean your temper? Because if that's what you mean, I think I know what you mean. I've been on the same as you since March 2004. I think he means the pills make him hot and sweaty and he is genrally a warm person Not that he is hot tempered LOL. Opiates make me sweat to, it never gets any better in my case, its the nautre of the beast and pretty common.

I know what you mean. My wife is always cld and I'm always warm in bed with as little blanket on me as possible.
The sweating was a problem with meth that never went away, but it wasn't aproblem with oxy or morph or the meds they ave me on now. I ddo remeber seating uncontrolably after surgery when using PCA dilaudid, but like SS said, that's a side effect of opiates. They do cause flushing. NOw I'm back to just warm naturered, I mighht feel a little ho flash frm time to time from using BT meds, but not the change your shirt 3 times a day because your drencing it sweat. I had to put up with that prior to the pump when I didn't have prescription nsurance. The only med I could afford was meth and sweating was a nasty side efect. Any amount of exertion or sometimes none at all and sweat would soak my hair and drip from my nose and I would have to change shirts.. Keeping your hair short helps a little. I do think this will get better with time and you will be your same old, warm blooded self minus the hot flashes.
I think most folks do accomadate to that side efect. It seems continued problems other than with methadone do tend to deminsih over time. I've read thousands of posts over the last 7 years and it really doesn't seem sweating from oxy has been an onngoing problem or complaint of oxy users. Meth never stopped but the hot flashes of oxy did deminsh with time for me, not that I ever really found a right dose of oxy. The doc that started me onit, had her mental limits. I had to cange docs due to insurance issues and my new doc doesn't prescribe OxyC. I live in VA where th stigma of a few posckests of abuse got media attn annd purdue created the first OPxyC trackng system as a way to combat this. It just draws too much attn from the DERA so he doesn't take that chance. It's his chice to avoid the oxyC radar and I can't blame him for wanting to be able to help everyone that willl benefit from some other drug without the DEA constantly in his ofice.
Not to discont SS, It's nice to hear all women don't have pop cycles for toes and the "I'm cold" complaint year round. :)
Flushing is a classic opiate side effect. Hopefuly one that will deminsih for all that suffer. I wouldn't be as optoimitisc if the med was methadone, but I had good luck with side effects deminsihing from oxy.
Oxyodone is the med I choose for BT pain with a pump deliverying dilaudid now . Sweating hasn't been an issue for years since the pump was implanted and I stopped methadone.

I have to agree with you!! Lately, I seem to get really warm, when I am usually more of a cold natured person. I've been getting hot flashes and also sweaty palms (really gross) and thought maybe I was going through early menopause!!! At my last PM appointment, I told the doctor about the sweaty palms and hot flashes and he told me that it is more than likely the narcotic medication he has me on. (Norco) He told me it's not uncommon for narcotic medications to have this effect.
For me, I'll put up with the hot flashes and sweaty palms. I'm ok with the trade off because I'm able to function more than I have in years. I hope your body will adjust a bit more and at least be less prone to being so uncomfortably hot. It must be pretty bad for you especially since you are already hot natured.

Howdy! I took Percocet for almost 8 years and I was ALWAYS hot! My family use to go nuts in the summer....I'd have the air conditioner down around 62!! Same thing in winter..I'd be outside in the snow and have to throw half my clothes off I'd be so warm. But I think as a whole, narcotics tend to make you feel warmer. That's my experience anyway. I must be having a problem. The way I look, no matter how many percs someone takes, I'm still not hot. Maybe i should lose some weight!

Is this also common with methadone?
I find myself hotter and more sweaty than ever before in my life. It gets really miserable sometimes. And this can be without any exertion at all. Then if I do anything, like grocery shopping, I'm approaching the check-out counter with sweat pouring down my face.
