I am 26 years old and a little over 7 months pregnant with my first child. This past Saturday I had my first grandmal siezure. My husband was with me, thank goodness, and called 911. They did blood work and a CAT scan and I had an EEG this past Monday but I seem to be fine now. I don't remember anything about the actual siezure. I came to a couple minutes afterwards when the paramedics were there. If anyone knows of any kind of siezures relating to pregnancy, please give me your thoughts. My husband is going crazy with worry. He's afraid to leave me home alone now and we're trying to research as much as we can

every person is different though i have 3 kids and as soon as i found out i was pregnant i stopped taking my meds and i never had a seizure while pregnant but every person with e is different i think i have that catamenial epilepsy because i only have seizures while i am having my period so in my case it has to do with the hormones so i was "safe" while pregnant i that makes any since to any body reading this i cant explain it and neither can any of my drs but hey who knows right http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I have heard that being pregnant can cause someone to have seizures, only through the pregnancy though. In fact, when I fell and hit my head and had a seizure (first one), EVERYONE asked me if I was pregnant! I had never heard of it before, but ever since then, more and more people are saying that the hormonal changes in your body can cause you to have seizures.
Not to turn things around, but since my seizure (5/14) I was supposed to have 2 menstrual cycles. The first one was very light (I am on birth control pills and, since the seizure, Dilantin) and I have not have one this week and I was supposed to start on Monday. I am 99.9% sure I am NOT pregnant....but has anyone heard that Dilantin may cause menstruation to be absent or delayed?? (I know it decreases the efficiency of the birth control by 6%)
Thanks

Never heard of Dilantin causing delays but anything is possible.
