Hi peaple! Its been a while since i've posted.3 yrs ago i hurt my back, due to this,my woman left me,i was in a state of depression.Couldn't do the things i was doing before my injury, friends stopped comming around. All my mind was foccused on was my pain.I'd wake up in the morning after a night of broking sleep wondering what the day would be like.Taking this med. and that med.well its been almost 4 years since my injury, and a little over a year since my first visit with my new doc.,wich has me on 80 mg of oxycotin tid,15 mg of oxycodone 2x a day as needed, and nerotin for nerve pain.my pain level is usually down to a 3-4,and i find myself with more ambition to do things,i have priorities now, wich before, all i could think of is how much pain will i be in today etc. no,i'm not 100% but also i'm not down on myself anymore.I was asking myself, after reading a post here awhile back, are my meds. really working, the answer, yes, not only is my pain level lower, but i have a better outlook on life. And i want to thank this board, and its members who gave me wonderful feedback over the last few years, this forum was,and still is,a big part of my recovery! Merry xmas and happy new year to you all!

Madhatter-
You are a classic example of just what good pain management can do to improve quality of life. I, like the others really like to see the positive stories. No, having chronic, long term pain and having to take medications on a daily basis isn't a walk in the park, but for those of us here on the PM board, it's a fact of life.

I went for a long time without pain management and my quality of life truly suffered, as did my family life. My faimly was forced to see the mom and wife they once knew change drastically in a negative way. It was awful, and I felt so bad that I couldn't be the person I used to be.

Now that I have a great PM doctor, my life has changed. It's more than just the medications, for me, it also involves other modalities and coping mechanisms as well. Like you and the others, I'm not 100%, I have good and bad days, ups & downs, but I am able to do more than I was before. My pain levels have decreased dramatically from a 9- 9.5 down to more like a 4 which for me is manageable.

I am so happy you posted your story, and am so happy to hear that you are able to do more of the things you love and need to do. Take care!!
