First off - merry Christmas to all.
Ok - my dh and I are going to be ttc as of this cycle (if we can catch it). To prepare for my journey I'm using a few tools: An ovulation microscope, ovulation test strips and cm...
The last 2 days in particular have been totally conflicting: The ovulation microscope is a total neg on ovulation. CM is - well - certainly not egg whitey, sticky, stringy, or anything. But the ovulation test strip has showed a really really faint line the last 2 days. All the instructions I read say that the line should be getting darker - which if anything it's gotten lighter, and second - the LH surge happens within 48 hrs.
I don't have a bbt so I haven't been temping - but - could this just be a REALLY sensitive opk test? Am I ovulating? Could it be a sign that I'm having infertility issues????? This has me totally scared and confused...
PLEASE - help.

Hi! I just wanted to share my personal experience with OPKs! I used them for several months and thought I was getting positives when infact they were neg. (Drs confirmed I didnt ovulate.) When I went back to the booklet it said that the results line must be as dark or darker than the test line. I was so exceited when the two lines popped up so quick, I assumed they were positive! But then when i re-examined them it appeared that the results line was just a slight bit lighter than the test line. I too thought i was super sensative to the tests, but I found out I was not ovulating at all..I don't know yet what this all means for me but I wish you luck with them! I don't think it means you def. have a fertility issue. Do you have regular cycles? I am going to start BBT this month so I can pin-point ovulation for sure. Have you thought about trying this?

Actually the bbt is in the mail... I just haven't received it yet.
As for my cycles - they've been 24, 26, 24, 27, 24 days - pretty much in that order. I just got of progestin (aygestin) about 6 months ago so I guess I could still be wacky from that (I was on it for like 5 years).
We haven't done any fertility tests - and dr's say they won't until we've tried a year or more unsuccessfully.
Will a person get the spike in estrogen for the other test - and the ewcm even if they don't ovulate?

For the first few months, I definitely recommend relaxing!!! Stress can cause your body to delay ovulation. We have been trying for 15 months (and now going through fertility treatment)-- really you need to relax and enjoy the process for 4 or 5 months, then try to use all of the other methods to help you.
Ovulation predictor kits are not entirely reliable. Ovulation microscopes are not either. Basal body temping is a good idea, BUT it only confirms that you have ovulated -- it will not give you any advance notice.
The best advice I can give you is to have intercourse every other day from cycle day 7 through cycle day 20. Once you start temping, you can have less frequent intercourse after you have three days in a row of high temperatures.
