Hey everyone,

I finally feel like I'm gonna make it!!! I can walk a little bit in my boot, took a while to get used to and I still have some pain but I am so sick of crutches I could puke! Not to mention all the driveways and parking lots here are pure ice. Hopefully by new years I can ditch them for good. My next appointment is Jan 3rd. I'll keep you all posted. Hope everyone had a good Christmas!!

Wow Nattie - that's great if you are "walking" and it's only 11 days. I was totally NWB for 2 weeks after my surgery and then in a rocker boot for another 6 weeks. I finally started "walking" in the rocker boot at 7 1/2 weeks! I'm finally in sneakers a couple weeks now and my next appt is Jan 4th. I'm hoping then that I can ease into "regular" shoes.

Keep up the good work - hope everyone has a Happy, Healthy pain-free new year.

Mary

DebbieG, I read your other post detailing your surgery-- you have a lot to recover from! You were in a hard cast for quite a while and that really does a number on your muscles. I was walking around with a surgical boot for 4 weeks and my calf totally atrophied in that time period-- so I can only imagine what it's like to come back after being in a regular cast for as long as you were. Plus your foot is probably stiff and sore after being "asleep" for so long in the cast. You will get better! :)
