hi everyone!!! hope everyone had a great holiday!!
well i'm a little confused, my chart had originally told me that i had o'd on cd 12. i'm currently on cd 22 and today i charted a high temp of 98.3. (also to note i have had a head cold, i had a fever saturday but not since so i don't know if that plays in it) so the chart changed today saying i o'd on cd 17. we bd plenty for the cd12 but tappered off due to holidays and thinking i had o'd. then from about cd 14 til now off and on i have pains on the left side. not hurting but enough that i feel it. today i noticed i have tender nipples, almost like before af. maybe its coming i'm not sure....cause i haven't had 2 cycles in a row since last december. i'd hate to have missed my o, we did bd before cd17 and luckily the day after by luck but i'd hate to have wasted a perfectly good cycle ya know?? so i'm just frustrated!!!! i think i'm done wasting money on opk's cause i get so many positives that i feel like it doesn't work. dah well, i guess there is always another cycle.

Here is my current theory about OPKS and the like its not very popular but I'm trying not to stress my self out to much with "extras" however that being said if I ever get my period i'm thinking about charting.

So my current theory is:

"BD approx everyother day all month then whenever I O i'll be ready"

My guess is that you not feeling well threw everything off and that the first prediction of your O date was correct.
Good Luck God Bless

Terp, thats my plan too. I figure if we BD every other day, you won't be able to miss when you O even if you arent charting! Seems like the easiest and cheapest way to me. We are new to this; I just went off the pill Dec 1st. AF is a no show so far this month.

I have one question though. When you figure your cycle, do you count from day one of AF to the day before the next AF or the days from when you stop to when you start or what?

Hello, babyluv01.

If you have irregular cycles it will be more difficult to predict when the O day really is. The thing is, you should (theoretically) only be getting a + on the OPK's one--maybe two--days per month. Irregular cycles will naturally throw this off as well, but nonetheless, you should know when you O.

BTW, have you ever take a HPT? 'Cuz it's entirely possible that your "irregular periods" are short-lived pregnancies. How long have you been TTC? Studies have shown that couples who try to get pregnant and have regular BD's only conceive 17% of the time every month. Halfway through a year, that's between 80-90%. And after 2 years, it's about 97%. (Of course by this time, some couples are inevitably counted more than once.) Only about 1/10 couples are infertile.

I am inclined to agree with the others that you should just have all of the BD's you want and eventually it will happen. And, FYI, a lot of dr's will tell you to BD every other day to make sure there's enough semen for fertilization. My wife and I took this advice the wrong way for the longest time. We thought that meant that by abstaining every other day, you are building up more semen. But upon further research, we discovered that there should always be enough semen to fertilize an egg, so really what they're saying is that you should BD AT LEAST every other day, rather than AT MOST every other day. That made our lives easier. :D

Thanks for all that advice everyone!!! very much appreciated :) as for me possibly being pg its highly doubtful considering my history. a brief one for ya...was on the pill cause when i was younger my period was so scarse, and it fixed it. but last oct the doc changed my brand and by jan of this year that was my last period. i did a hpt in march and it was neg. so i finally was able to see a doc in oct and he had me on progestin for 7 days. i had a cycle. then i didn't have another til dec 5th. and thats where i'm at now. i've had 2 periods this yr. i got off bcp in may. so we've been trying since then. doc's doing blood work on my cd21. bd every other day was my thoughts too. can't miss anything with that now can ya. :p i've had 3 pos opk's this month. and they weren't maybes either, u could tell they were noticeable darker or the same as the test line. well i'm hoping to get some news from the doc. my worst thoughts are that he's gonna say that all the tests are normal and i'll have to keep trying without any help to stimulate things. keeping fingers and toes crossed. thanks for the support.

Your cd1 is the first day of your period and your last day is the day before your next one starts.

Babyluv,
I'm almost 23 and until August of this year, I had never had a period. I went to the doc and they did an internal ultrasound and some blood work and come to find out, I have polycystic ovarian syndrome. Is it possible you have this too? Theres a message board on here for this too. He put me on prometrium to induce a bleed and it didn't work so he put me on provera. This worked like a charm. He then put me on BCP so i dont get pregnant. I've had a period for the past three months but I went off BCP because we decided to TTC. Now this month I havent had a visit from AF and I really don't think its from being pregnant (as much as I'd like to hope it was that easy!!). Good luck with your bloodwork!! I hope you find something out that'll help you!

Confrustrated,
The doc had me do progestin in oct and i had a cycle. then in dec is when i had another. i was put on bcp when i was 17 because i had maybe 8 cycles from 14 til 17. when i was on yasmin for 6yr i was so regular i could tell u what time i'd start.:D when they changed my bcp last oct it messed me up. then after my cycle in jan i had nothing til progestin in oct. the doc had mentioned pcos to me. i've been reading about it. i just had bloodwork for testosterone done yesterday. i don't know if that was the cd21 test for seeing if i o'd or if hes testing me for pcos. when i go back in i'll be able to ask more since i'll have a better bbt chart and some bloodwork. my mom had irregular cycles too, until her 3rd kid. now shes reg. she had never worried about it because everytime she wanted to get pg she did. thanks for the advice. i'll talk to my doc more. how did they diagnose u with pcos? bloodwork? do u have all the symptoms?

Hi Angelica ;)
I was diagnosed with an internal ultrasound and bloodwork. They found a bunch of cysts on my ovaries and then ran the bloodwork. I have excess facial hair, hair on my abdomen, gain weight easy/hard to lose, and lack of period. Not everyone will have all symptoms; they vary from person to person. I was lucky enough to find a great OB/GYN. When we talked about fertility, he wasn't too worried about it. He said when the time comes we'll worry about it then. He does everything up to invetro so I feel like I'm in good hands!! :blob_fire
Good luck!

i'm so glad that you were able to find such a great doc. i haven't found a doc that cares too much. i'm hoping this one that i had to fight to see will care. i have the pcos symptoms, except excess hair. but everyone i read about says they have ALL the symptoms. i have a hard time loosing weight too. in 3 months i gained another 5 lbs. it seems the healthier i eat the more i gain. i had real bad acne til i started using proactiv. thats worked good so far. then of course the lack of mentral cycles. i'll have to ask my doc about an ultrasound too. thanks for the advice.
