i have been taking wellbutrin for 5months. would like to have a few drinks new years eve. can you drink any alcohol while taking wellbutrin? does that increase risk for seizure

You need to be real carefull as the Wellbutrin acts like a multiplier with the alcohol. So if you have two drinks it will feel like four or five. Just drink very slowly and try to keep track on how your reacting to the alcohol. At least this has been my experience.

I take Wellbutrin as well. That has been the same effect for me as well. It is like one drink is the equivelent of four of five as well. So be careful.

This is my suggestion as well. Alternate a drink, then a glass of water (sipped like a drink), etc.

If you are that worried about drinking and taking wellbutrin, why drink? You can still have fun without the alcohol and then you won't have to worry about the combination of the drink and drug. Happy New Year! :wave:

I've done it. And just fell, passed out. Luckily I was just across the road and got home with alot of help. From what my friends say I was talking ok, then got up and then fell to the floor. I had a black eye to prove it. Plzzzz be careful!!!!

I would check with your doctor or pharmacist first. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it clearly states in the information that comes with your meds, not to drink alcohol with them because of the seizure risk.
