 I am wondering if anyone knows anything about ADHD and SSI Disability? We are raising our grandson's ages 3 & 7 years old. I am unable to work due to the fact that we cannot afford daycare and also my 7 yr. old has ADHD & ODD. We need finicial assistance in raising these boys. Anyone with comments or any info, please let me know.

well, there's not too much I can post, but you should try the website or you could call your local office and they could give you other numbers to call-they are very helpful in this matter.

Maybe SSI might not be your best hope for financial assistance with your grandkids. But depending on the circumstances that lead to you raising them, you may qualify to be paid as their foster parents. I think my first call if I were you would be to my county offices to see what they may have available to help you out.

Good Luck!

A friend of mine took in her two very young grandchildren about a year ago. She went to the state and took guardianship of them as a foster parent. By doing this, she receives a check every month from the state (not a whole lot but it helps) and her grandchildren get free medical, dental and eye care.

It's well worth checking into. Go on your state's website or call your lawyer and check into it.
