Hi Chris,
I know you answered my question before but I wanted to re-ask it more specifically. I am worried sick about HIV. I made an appointment for today and of course my luck, they canceled the appointment on me until Friday. So now my anxiety has returned. I mentioned in my last thread that I have been with the same person for 9 years. In those 9 years I have had numerous CBC tests and no flags have come up (meaning no count has been funny). I've probably had about 2-3 of these blood tests 2 years apart from each other. My last sexual encounter was about 9 years ago. If I had contracted HIV during one of my stupid college episodes, would something have "popped up" in these blood tests that would make the doctors test further??
Thanks...

I really understand your anxiety. Before I was diagnosed I was a bigger hypochondriac that ever (that seems to have subsided). CBC lab work can be specific for many things and, yes, if there were things that were really out of wack with you labs, your physician may wanted to order other labs that would have been specific to whatever he/she was searching for. DId the doctor ever ask about your sexual history? BEsides, since you have been asymptomatic for any HIV-like issues, I would think you are negative. However, only you can bring that peace to yourself. When you see the doctor on Friday are you going to get tested for HIV? Now, as long as you are confident that your partner has been monogamous and that you have been monogamous as well, then I think you are really OK. chris

Thank you so much for your response! You ahve made me feel better. Yes on Friday I will be getting tested for HIV. I have expressed my fears with my husband and of course he thinks I'm being silly (we have both been monogamus for the last 9 years). I have copies of my CBC's and there is nothing out of wack with them. The last one was performed in 2004 and the showed everything was normal...
Once again, thank you so much!
