Hi there! Need a little advise here.... got diagnosed with Labyrinthitis last week and I was prescribed Amoxicillin which hasn't helped in any way, in fact, it feels worse. My head and face feels swolen and hurts so bad, like a sinus infection but now it's affecting my vision and hurts to move my eyes. My body aches, I get hot, then freezing cold, and I've been in bed for days.
I read some of the posts that say this can take several months to clear up!
Any advise? Thank you SO much!

Hi,

You don't mention any dizziness. Are you experiencing any profound dizziness? I assume you must be if they diagnosed labyrinthits. In any case, have a look in the archive and read through the many great articles (and videos) there. Yes, unfortunately recovery can take from 6 weeks and onward for some. The large majority however, recover quickly. Most on this board have had it go on for longer than you'd wish but then, I guess that's why we're still here.

Best....Scott

Hi Scott! Yep, that's how it started out, with the dizziness, when I woke up in the morning it felt like I had just got off a ride, the whole room was spinning. That went on for 3 days so that's when I went to the doctor. 1st round of antibiotics (Amoxicillin) didn't help at all, 2nd round is now Ciprofloxacin, 5th day into it and I seem to be doing better, it's turned into a chest cold now and I'm coughing with a sore and nasty voice. Is this all part of the same virus you think or did I pick up something new? I really feel for all you you how have (and are) suffering from Labyrinthitis, it's the worst virus I think I've ever had! What the heck makes it go on for months anyway? My heart goes out to you all.... just awful.
Thank you!

The virus can cause damage to your inner ear which is what causes people to feel dizzy for months, until your brain compensates for the bad signal it is getting and adjusts. Then you feel better. Do you feel dizzy now?
