I have heard that people with TLE often have an enhanced ability to see meaning in things - that they find more meaning in things than people without TLE.

Has anybody else heard this? Do you find it to be true for you?

"Great Meaning" in things is relative. You may think that what I have to say has great meaning but the next one won't! It is all in the eye of the beholder.

Hi KittyMom,

Of course it is relative but I have heard doctors say that people with TLE often have an enhanced ability to see - to give meaning to things. I was wondering if anybody on this forum had heard that ascribed to them.

Someone on another board just suggested that I look up Dr. Ramachandran on the internet. I did and he talks about TLE and religious experiences and how people with TLE can attach great meaning to things.

I had an experience when I was 10 years old that has had profound meaning for me and has been and is having a great influence on my life. It seems similar to what Dr. Ramachandran is talking about.

Has anybody else had experiences that were similar?

Hi Kittymom,
They have recently done a study on people with TLE and they have found that a person with TLE can write stories, poems, etc. much easier than a person without TLE.
I have TLE and I began writing poetry when I was 12 yrs. old and I never wrote poems or short stories until I got TLE. Drs. have stated that the RTL shows much of a persons emotions and that a person with RTL epilepsy can be very sensitive as well as creative.
Look at Edgar Allen Poe he had epilepsy and he did a lot of writing. I like his book titled "The Raven" which is actually a very long poem.
Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

Sue
