HI all. i havent visited healthboards in over a year. lol. been a while.

my daughter has been getting migraines for over a year. she has only had about 5 but tylenol and motrin do not help her. she has the vomitting and sensitivity to light and sound. she is 6 years old. I also get them, as does my father. so i figured she would get them although not this early. Is there any Rx's that help your child? she does get phenegren suppositories for the vomitting, but we need something for the pain. she cant sleep because it is so bad and noting helps. i am making her an appt for next week. but wanted to have some things ready to discuss. . no "migraine" meds have helped me or my dad (occasionally they do, but way more often they dont) but i am hoping that when she is old enough for most of them they will help her. any help on meds would be great. is there Rx's for migraines for kids? thanks in advance!

Trying-
I'm so sorry that your daughter is getting migraines. I had my first one at 16 years old and it was a horrible one. Vomitting, light sensitivity, you name it. Since then, I get them mostly around "that time of the month". Sometimes lasting several days...urghh.

Now, back on subject. I know someone who's son gets frequent severe headaches although they haven't classified them as migraines for what ever reason. He was six when he got his first. After they did some diagnostic tests to confirm there wasn't any kind of tumor or anything within his brain causing this, they prescribed him tylenol 3. He couldn't swallow pills then, so they gave him the liquid form. I'm not saying this will deffinately help your daughter, or that a doctor would prescribe it for her, but it did help this little boy greatly.

Good luck. It's sad to think of anyone having migraines- especially a child. Keep us posted.

My daughter has had migraines since she was 3..Now she is 7...All we have been giving her is motrin...My doctor is going to check with a neuro about a small dose of a blood pressure medicine...I am hoping this will help her..It is horrible holding your child while they are screaming or patting there backs while they are hugging the toilet from puking....I will check back to see if anybody else has any ideas, but our pharmicist is the one who told me about it and our doctor takes one daily to help with her migraines....My whole family gets them... I am on fieoricet and relpax for mine... best of luck with your daughter and I hope you get some help...Ralinda
