Hi all:wave: I had LEEP treatment for CINIII in Dec 03. It came back with clear margins. All of my paps since then have been clear but I still worry when I have to go for a pap. My next one is due in a few weeks and already I'm worried sick about the result!
Does anyone have any reassuring stories about having LEEP for CINIII and it not coming back again - even after 3 years? I's appreciate hearing from you. I'm based in Scotland so Happy Hogmanay to you all! Love & Peace

Lauri, since WebMD is a part of this board (sponsor, etc.), I think it might be okay to refer to it. If you go to the message boards for HPV, there is an individual that regularly posts. Her name is Megan, she has been through the same situation as you (and me). Megan has had 5 years of clear pap smears since her LEEP. She is very knowledgeable and responds quickly. In addition, I have a cousin who has had 4 years of clear paps. So, it can happen!! I worry too...for example, what will happen when I'm older and my immune system isn't as good anymore. Will it come back? It's scary but we have to fight through this!
I've only had 7 months of clear paps (two of them). Plus, I didn't have clear margins and things have still worked well for me so far. I'm trying to stay positive!
Hope this helps just a tiny bit....good luck to you!

Well I hope there are lots of reassuring stories! I was diagnosed CINIII/CIS in September of this year, had a LEEP with unclear margins and then a cold knife cone with "very wide, clear margins" as my doctor put it. That was December 1st. She wants me back in April and she said that with wide margins like I had, there was a very good chance it would not come back, or if it did it would be years from now. She said, "I bet you have 20 years of clear paps at least." However, she did say that I'd need paps every six months for two years, and then yearlies for the rest of my life. She was very strong in her advice to NEVER take it for granted. Once you've had it, there is always a chance that it will come back.
Anyway, good luck!

I had severe dysplasia followed by a LEEP 3 years ago. I have had normal paps since then. I am very religious about going for my annual pap. I am eating healthy, organic food and taking vitamins. I have a very hopeful, positive outlook. I refuse to worry unless and until there is something to worry about.:)
