Hi, Ugh I get this too, its referrered nerve pain, and sometimes narcotics wont touch it, I have had some luck with the numbing patch, its early lol I need coffee, maybe someone knows what those are called? anyway, ask your doctor for some of those and try putting it right on the bulge. also some of the non narcotic meds specifically for nerve pain may help you. Have you had the bulge looked at? an MRI? might be a serious disc issue if the pain is bad, constant, or goes past the knee. Make sure your doctor knows whats up with that. In the meantime, I would try some anti inflammatory, your pharmacist can recommend some OTC that wont interfer with your other meds, and maybe a cold compress on the bulge. If the inflammation gets better, the swelling goes down, and theres not that pressure on the nerve root that is causing your leg pain. best of luck, I'll send positive thoughts your way!
Hugs, Fabby

Fabby I'm sorry to hear you're going through new problems.
As you know a bulge can cause all sorts of pain, especially if it's pressing into nerves or the root bed.
The patch is the Lidoderm patch and I find it works great on the immediate spot but not any pain that flows down the leg due to compression.
Gentle massage, warm baths and rest have helped me through some of my more painful times. Also when not using the Lidoderm I do like those little heating pads that last for 8 to 12 hours. They seem to provide a decent amount of relief when the pain medications are wearing off.
You may want to see the doctor again just to be sure there's nothing else going on that may need immediate attention.
Good luck
