Hello to all,

Please help me if you can. Very early this morning I had a terrible thing happen just like back last February (what started all of this) but not as bad. I slept pretty good and woke up to see my husband off to work. I am off for school break. I had a couple of Christmas cookies went back to bed and read for a bit then turned over to go to sleep. Within about 2 min. I felt a little short of breath, started having burning pain (from the inside out) and tingling in my head, ears, forehead, chest, back, both knees, became a little nauseous, was sweating. My BP was slightly elevated but my pulse was ok. I started feeling better the next 3 hours but felt chilled and kinda yucky. Thought I would eat my oatmeal and have 1 cup of coffee (which neither went down too easy). About 10 min after I ate it happened again, although not quite as bad. Now I just feel yucky and have a slight headache in my forehead, my neck is stiff and sore, my occipital area hurts, my back (hunch back area) is sore and swollen. This is what sent me to the hospital in February, where I had all the heart tests even a heart catheterization which came back normal. I just wondered if this sounds familiar to any one.

Thanks,

Karen:angel:

It could be so many things, Have you been to your Primary Care Physician about this yet? Does it always happen when you are eating?

HI PearlDoves

Thanks for responding. Yes I am going to the doctors tomorrow. My Primary Care Doctor was the first one I seen and he sent me on to all the other doctors. No, it never happend before after I ate, only while I am in bed asleep and it wakes me up. It only happened 1 more time today not as bad. I do feel kinda sick. I have pains in my stomach and intestines, chilled, headache. I just wondered if I do have something else wrong with me and I get sick from a cold or stomach flu would I react in different ways?

My constant complaints for the last couple years is head pressure, constant pulsating tinnitus, burning, numbness, tingling in head, ears, chest, back knees and terrible neck soreness, stiffness and occipital pain. These are the reasons I have been going to so many doctors to find out what is wrong.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

ventcrew

Hello,

I just got back today from my Primary doctor and he has had enough and he is sending me to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Has anyone out there been to the mayo clinic. Could you please tell me about your experience. Did they find out what was wrong with you or help you. Part of me is glad to go to get some answers but the other part of me is scared to death. My husband is going with me, but we have to leave our son at home(senior) with Grandma. I just hate not being at home with my whole family. Please keep me in your prayers.

Thank you,

Dear Ventcrew,
I am interested in your outcome-mysterious diagnosis. I had a similiar experience 2 years ago and suffered unmercifully since the dozens of doctors could not figure out what was wrong with me. Since I am a nurse and a computer addict-I found all kinds of diagnoses-none of which any doctors agreed with. My symptoms have improved tremendously but I still have effects such as tinnitus, neuropathy, unsteady gait, insomnia, muscle weakness. I take Neurontin and pain medication-basically have learned to live with it. I wish I had gone to Mayo-I went to local medical school and did get some help. Let us hear how you are doing. Try not to worry!!!

Mayo is good...but not excellent unless you know how to play the game. Take someone with you who can cordinate the appointments. They will tell you appointments with some doctors are not available for several weeks or days. DO NOT believe this. Go directly to that doctors office and explain that you are from out of town and do not intend on coming back for an appointment. "nicely" ask for the help of the person in charge there. They are using willing to help. If they can't...find an alternate doctor in that area. Mayo is no better than some other hospitals, just more concentrated. But they all share the same quality...unorganization. Don't let them run you over either. Tell them exactly what you want to know. (you are paying, remember). If you find an arrogant doctor tell them you want to see another. One thing you must do is have all of your prescriptions reviewed...many times their are interactions that doctors overlook....mostly by ignorance. Make sure the report from Mayo is sent to you. Make copies of it and send it to your doctors. Then call and make sure the report arrived. Call again in a few day and ask, again nicely, LOL what the comments are of your doctor. I understand Mayo should have sent them a copy...but don't trust this to Mayo, or your doctor to read it. Work this just like you would any business deal..... don't leave anything in the hands of others if you want it done. Is Mayo worth the time? Yes....Are they the absolute best? No. (there are other hospitals just as good) But they are more concentrated. It is like shopping at wal-mart. You get more selection under one roof, and can travel from department to department. The key at Mayo? Find someone that can help you. A secretary of office mangager of one of the doctors you see. When you hit a snag..call them, ask for help. They will usually help you, even with other doctors, and doctors appointments. Oh, and call ahead before you go to Mayo. One person will handle your file. They can also help with other matters. Get this person on the phone now...register with them now...even before your doctor calls to get an appointment. This way you are already on the books...it will save months of waiting. The person you talk with here can be your main contact..it will be invaluable in the future. Don't do like some people and let them try to see what is wrong with you without any help. Write down completely! any and all problems before you go, and take it with you....written , written, written!!!!! Each person you see gets a copy!!!!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! Again...don't be scared of Mayo...think of it as going to wal-mart.....with Neiman-Marcus prices.

Hello NHone,

I can not thank you enough for all of your advice. It sounds like you have been to Mayo. Have you? You know I live in Michigan and alot of my relatives are asking me why not go to the University of Michigan? It is about an hour and a half away. What is your thoughts on this. My doctor said they are excellent but Mayo is better. I just wonder if it is worth the trip 8 to 10 hours I am guessing. I guess I should get on the phone with U 0f M, Mayo and my insurance company and decide. I will start on Tuesday. Everything was closed once I got home from the doctors until after New Years. I am feeling better. I feel that I got a bug cause my stomach was and still is not quite right and I have a lot of sinus drainage along with the rest of my family. I guess I might just get weirder symptoms when I am sick because of whatever is wrong with me. Well Thank You again. I truly appreciate what you have shared with me.

Happy New Year and God Bless.
