After patiently waiting for what seems like an eternity (and stalking this board for like a year as a bystander with nothing to say), we are finally going to start TTC at the beginning of the New Year. We've been married for going on four years and have been together for almost 10. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it, after making sure everything is just so-so with life - finances, jobs, good insurance, etc. It seems so surreal - that after so many years of preventing, now you get to TRY to get PG! Is anyone else TTC for the first time?
Also, obviously I'm going off the pill as of Sunday, but I also have low grade depression and have migraines. Should I also go off of my medication for both of these things as well? I do not have an OB/GYN yet, so I'm probably going to just go off to be safe, but if anyone knows, please respond.

Hi and welcome!!
I just went off BCP beginning of december. We are TTC for the first time too. I would recommend calling your doctor and asking him about your meds. Depending on what it is, he might recommend that you keep taking it.
Best of luck to all of us!! and lots of baby dust!! :blob_fire

I too am TTC I have been off the bcp since September. I ttc in November and December and no luck yet. They say it takes about 4-5 months for your body to readjust itself. Hopefully the month of January will be my lucky month!!!!

I might also TTC in the new year. :o Does it matter what the male does? My husband is on antibiotics, cough medicine, and sudafed for a cold which has been lingering. Plus what about drinking alcohol? I had some wine at Christmas (like a half a glass) and a couple sips of champagne but since the eggs are there since birth, does it matter what you drink before you even try to get pregnant?

I think you are totally fine Mugwump, no worries. I drink occasionally, and have just heard that when you become pg, you shouldn't drink. I certainly wouldn't worry about the glass of wine at Christmas! As for DH, things like drugs can affect them, but not nearly as much as us, from what I've read so far. There are certain types of medications that may cause birth defects when taken by men, but these are very specific classes of drugs, not antibiotics to my knowledge. These medications come with big warnings about being around pregnant women, etc. If you are really concerned, definitely ask your doctor, but I think you should be fine. ;) Good luck, and have fun! That's what we're going to try to do!

we're ttc too - hopefully we'll catch this cycle - but judging by the o-pains i'm having we won't. We can't see each other until new years day night....
:O( :O(
But - there's always next cycle...
I'm with you all! I've been off progestin for 6 months and we decided to really try.
The best of luck everyone...
may we it rain baby dust on all of us.

Hi Littlemissa,
Nice to see you on here. I am a newbie too. We are TTC or first also. It is a pretty interesting journey. It IS very nice to have a forum like this to talk to other girls.
Are you doing anyting like using ovulation predictor kits (opk), or BBT? I am doing both. We have been TTC for about 4 months. I am on cycle day 11 right now. DH and I have been bd'ing (I hope you know all the abbriviations) like every day since like day 8. OMG sometimes it gets to be a lot of work!!!
WELCOME and happy new year. 2007 will be our year!!! :blob_fire :blob_fire

Hey ladies!
It's wonderful to see some new faces around here. I'm not new, but I've been on a slight hiatus from posting..simply because the last two months, we've taken a break from the clomid and without it, I don't O. This place is wonderful for venting or getting support. My DH is great too but his attitude is.." If it happens, it happens." But then he wants me on the clomid and he wants to actively try, aren't men confusing?! :dizzy: We've been TTC for well over a year, I can only hope 2007 brings us all BFP's!!
