I posted over a week ago about having sex with a man who I sort of know, I was drunk and don't even remember but he told me the day after that we did and I don't think he would lie, even though to be honest I did not feel as though id had sex, if you see what I mean.
This man gives blood 3-4 times a year. He last gave blood 4 weeks ago, they take samples to test for HIV, syhallis etc.... does anyone know how soon they test these and would he of heard from them by now if he had anything? I spoke to him the other day and he told me he hadn't heard and he said I was worrying over nothing. He is father of 4, now divorced and he said I have nothing to worry about. We are friends sort of so I am sure he wouldn't lie to me if he had heard from the blood nurse but im stil a little anxious about things. Its been 10 weeks since we had sex and im aching, feeling tired etc....
Anyone know about giving blood in the UK?

As far as I know you shouldn't donate blood if you have had unprotected sex.
If your talking about Hiv etc..., then hospitals have something called GUM clinics, basically you phone up your nearest clinic, make an appointment, they have a counsellor there, he/she talks to you, you tell them whats happened and they take tests for ALL STD's, usually they text you the results within a week. Try not to worry yourself as I understand what your going through. Usually you wait for 3 months before getting tested as HIV may not appear before hand, so your 3 months is nearly up so you could go and get tested just to give yourself peace of mind. Your like me, worry all the time. If the guy has lots of sexual partners it may be worth going. Its free too!
Here is the site were you can find more info http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?articleId=972
Hope this helps!

BTW if you go straight to the GUM clinic and not through your GP it will not be on your records.
read your other thread and your GP sounds an idiot, STD's are very serious, hence the STD adverts on all over xmas.

Hi Dave,
Why do you think my GP is an idiot? he is very supportive, ive been very ill with anxiety since having my 2nd child. He knows im a worrier. He tested me at 6 weeks and it was negative, he said no need to re test because the risk is less than 1% if the person has HIV and he said if this man is a blood doner and also been in a very serious relationship its highly unlikely he even has it. He also said the fact that the sex was very short lived and did not finish inside me the risk was even more minimal. I don't think he is an idiot at all but yes ive been doubting the 6 week result and driving myself crazy with worry:rolleyes:
I have had swabs for chlamydia, gonorhea, thrush etc..... bloods for HIV and syhallis, all negative.

its just the GUM clinics like you to wait 12 weeks for testing for HIV.
He is probably right :)
Try not to worry.

I had tests for chlamydia 2-3 weeks after the sex and HIV and syphallis blood tests 45 days later. Dr said they would of shown + at these points if I had anything. I had read it was 13 weeks for HIV but my GP said after 6 weeks a test is accurate and he said as he gave blood anyway not to worry at all.
I am still very worried I might have an STD, I have had swabs for ghonorhea and chlamydia both were negative so why am i still worried?:-(
Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you need to forget about it, its happened, you done the sensible thing by having tests, they came back negative :)
If you really want to put your mind at rest go to the GUM clinic direct and get tested again, It's free and will def put your mind at rest. Just try and forget, I know it's hard, otherwise you'll drive yourself crackers :dizzy:
All the best, we all learn by our mistakes, I certainly will. :D

Hi Dave,
Have you had tests? its nerve wracking isn't it especially when you are a born worrier anyway.
I am married with 3 kids, I made a HUGE mistake and deeply regret it.
Thanks:)
