I just got a Brazilian wax, and I have what looks like a rash. Is this just from the heat of the wax, or is it something I need to treat? Does anyone know any good creams to put on it? It's not ingrown hairs, doesn't hurt, but is just very red and rash-looking.

Help :-\.

I've never gotten a Brazilian wax (although I really want to!) but it sounds like your skin just got irritated from it......maybe try one of those creams such as Bikini Zone. They're supposed to help with redness and irritation.

A brazilian wax is something that should be mandatory punishment/torture for violent criminals. :D

Haha, that was hilarious... and I agree. Some people must have really high tolerance for pain. I can't even imagine waxing my legs - way too painful.

I use bikini zone. Seems to help calm the skin down. It is just irritated. It will go away quickly.

Hi, I am visiting from the Back Problems board--I needed to talk about something besides chronic pain!

Usually the redness goes away in about a day--it is traumatic for the very sensitive skin to have the hot wax poured on and then all the ahir ripped off. After you have gotten a few (if you are going to continue, be religious about it--ask your tech how often she recommends and stick to it!) your skin will become more used to it and you won't get as red and it won't last as long. In between, get a good exfoliating scrub (I used Aveda bikini srub with walnut extract) to cut down on the risk of ingrowns and it will help the hair to come out easier if you keep all the dead skin cells off. You just have to use it a couple of days a week.

Good Luck!

I forgot to tell you--you don't want to use any cream or scrub (except your normal soap) for a couple of days after a wax since your skin is really sensitive and anything oily or rough will just inflame you more. :) :) :)

I am thinking about getting a brazilian wax before my wedding in July. What is the pain comparable to

Start getting them now. The first few are pretty painful (I mean, hot wax riping your hair out!?!?!) but then they get better as the hair grows back finer. Before your first one, you want to trim so the hair is only about a quarter inch long (and feminine electric or battery razoe will have an attachment or a pop uo thing on it that will give youthe right length). Make sure you go in the middle of your cycle--the week before your period or the week after will make if more painful since you are more sensitive then. After the first few it is comparable to getting your eyebrowns waxed. I highly recommend it. I always feel cleaner and it is a hit in the bedroom! Just make sure you go to a reputable waxer--I have gone to a nail place that siad they did it and it was the worst wax ever. Now I go to an Aveda concept salon and I love it.

Does anyone know of any good electric razors that will give a similar effect? I can't deal with the pain of waxing, the idea of it makes me cringe.... plus I can't imagine a complete stranger doing this, I must be a major prude, LOL

Any alternate ways to go more bare would be appreciated :D
