Hi
I recently got results for my blood test for herpes.
My results read -
Herpes type 1 - not detected (these were both igc tests)
Herpes type 2 - not detected
Herpes Simplex 1 and 2 - Evoquivical (igm test)
I don't understand, the doctor said something about they can't determine if the results are negative or positive for the igm test, something to do with the antibodies???
I'm scared, cause I've had 3 tests now and every time it says eqoquivical on the igm test, its been 6 months since possible exposure.
Please anyone help?

If you read up on IgM Herpes testing, you'll learn your doctor never should have order the IgM test. The results are worthless. A positive result doesn't mean you do have the virus and a negative result doesn't mean you don't. Check out the thread titled 'IGM?' for an explanation of IGM testing.
Just pay attention to your IgG results: You're negative for both HSV1 and HSV2.

Thank you
I had an idea that the IGM tests were meaningless. But needed that confirmation for my mind.
One thing that I don't understand is that my doctor keeps sending me back for tests because of the Evoquivical result, I have another form to get another blood test for a "DCR for Herpes Simplex" - I was told to go get another blood test in 2 weeks???? Is this going to change, does anyone know what the DCR stands for?
Thank you
