ok everyone in the house pretty much has the same cold, even my dd. BUT she has a fever of almost 103! we have been giving her plenty of fluids and ibuprofen does bring it down but even though all of us seem to have a cold, the exact same symptoms as her she is the only one that has a fever...i thought u only get fevers with flus?but no one else seems to have flu symptoms which is strange if it was the flu going around the house. the symptoms of everyone is runny nose, cough and basic cold symptoms hers are that too plus fever and chills. any help would be great.

It sounds like the flu to me. With colds, usually you have just a low grade fever.....103 is pretty high. Hope she feels better soon!

Flu.

Usually with colds you don't get a fever. Make sure she gets plenty of rest and fluids.

After a cold starts, if the temperature begins to go up it can also be an ear infection or could be progressing to an upper respiratory infection. If her fever goes back up you might want to have her looked at as she probably needs anitbiotics.

My son had what I thought was just a flu or cold until I took him to the doctor 3 days later and he had pneumonia.
He was running a temp of over a 103 also. You should take her to see the doc just to make sure.

thanks for the response...she is over it now has been for 2 days. Just 2 days of really bad fever chills and such but now she is almost normal just a bit of cough so all is well!
