Okay I have a question.....is it possible that.. someone can try Valtrex. NO positive results. then try Famvir...No positive results and just constantly breakout in different parts of the body ALL THE time for two months straight...plus my face...i tried abreva, toothpaste, tea tree oil, and oral medication. ANYTHING I cud think about or read about NOTHING HAS HELPED ME. isnt herpes supposed to form and go away without scarring in like 2-4 weeks or maybe even a month but 2 months with it getting worse?? is that a bad sign that nothing is helping my body? I got blood tests to see if anything was wrong with my immune system and there's not. so how is all this possible? Ive been taking a multivitamin, cats claw, lysine, vitamin C, echinacha, ginko. and have been back and forth to so many different doctors none of them seem to give me helpful information. any thoughts PLEASE? another quick question is it considered an STD if herpes is passed from your own cold sores to your own genitals?

I have had similar problems. I was diagnosed the first week of October and was put on Valtrex for treatment, and then for suppression, but I have had an issue of one type or another since then, and its the end of December. My doctor even raised my dose of Valtrex to 1,000 mg daily for suppression and still I'm having problems. I started taking Vit C, A, E, B Complex, OOO, and Omega 3, and I'm still having issues. I've been watching what I eat and staying away from chocolate, peanuts, caffeine, etc... It's been very frustrating. I have type 1, which was transmitted through oral sex, so my initial outbreak was genital, followed by cold sores. I think the only thing Valtrex has helped is that I dont ever get a full blown blister, its always just a red bump that appears and hangs around for a bit. I've found that if I use Abreva as SOON as the itchiness starts, it works really well, but if they come overnight and I dont catch it right away, it can last from 5 to 7 days, sometimes even longer. If anyone has had a similar issue and can give some advice, it would be very much appreciated!!!

Misconception. Herpes is not just an STD it is most frequently transmitted sexually, but can be transmitted from other parts of the body without sexual intercourse. How can I be so sure? I contracted it while I was a virgin who had never had a sexual encounter. How I got it? I have no clue still do not know how long I have had it. My mother said she didn't have it so I am clue less. I have had it most of my life because I remember being sickly as a child. I had trouble with swollen glands when i was younger and I think this was due to my being infected. It's not just an STD definitely, just most commonly labeled that.

I have been diagnosed with hsv for 5 years now. I am on valtrex for surpressive but I still get outbreaks. I need the valtrex as even tho I still get outbreaks they only last a few days and are not as painful. if I stop taking the tablets then I know that im in for a very painful bad couple of weeks almost as bad as my first outbreak.

I seem to be having the same problem.

Its my first outbreak and I just finished 10 days (2xper day) of Valtrex and still have the same sores as before. I have a genital sore that has been there for almost 2 months now and clusters of little white bumps on the inside of my lips for about 3 weeks. The Valtrex seems to have done little to cure either one. I'm going to get blood tests tomorrow since the doc just diagnosed me by looking at the sores as "its simply herpes".
I'm hoping my body responds to Valtrex cause this will really suck going through life without any relief of this damn thing!

I remember a friend of mine had a patient who was in a geratric state and in a coma had herpes2 blisters on his elbows (fluid like blisters) when he was a nurse's aide he changed the diapers of all the patients at night.

a year later he developed the same fluid type blisters his patient had. IN THE SAME SPOT! on his elbows
he swears he got the hsv2 from his patient when he changed him because he was wearing scrubs and no arm sleeves. never had a sexual encounter either.
according to some research that type of transmission is possible
skin to skin, one of that guys blisters could have ruptured and went into his skin. at least thats what he thinks.

another thing i just finished reading is that you can have hsv1 and it can convert to hsv2 because the dna is 99% similar

anyone else hear that?
so confused!
