I am a 36 year old woman who has been having very heavy periods for some time. I have been to the Dr several times and she did lots of testing and can not find anything wrong. That is the good part. I have decided to do endometral ablation this month hoping this will help with the severe periods I have. What I am concerned about is that I have heard that one of the sypmtoms of uterine cancer is abnormal bleeding. If I have this procedure done, 40% of women never have a period again. How will I know if somehting is wrong? Are there other symptoms of uterine cancer besides abnormal bleeding? Do you think somehting like this would be picked up during regular yearly exams?

When a friend of mine decided to have the ablation done, she had to have a uterine biopsy before the procedure to be sure there was no uterine cancer.
Has your doctor mentioned doing a biopsy before the ablation?

My Dr has not mentioned this but I will ask. I have had bloodwork done and a transvaginal ultrasound and a saline infusion ultrasound done. Thanks!
