I'm one of those scaredy cats when it comes to taking meds. I worry over the side effects and mixing meds together. My new neuro has mentioned trying a round of Solu Medrol. It's been over 5 years since the first attempt. My question is.... if there isn't any inflamation going on is it still ok to take this stuff? I mean, how can you be sure if you're taking the right med for certain problems? I'm never quite sure if I'm in a relapse or attack or whatever you call it since I'm secondary progressive.
Someone please reassure me.

in short.. yes... you will be fine taking it even if there is no inflamation.. i am taking a maintenance dose once a month of it for the next six months..inflamation or not (1000mg once a month.. )
over use of it can cause problems but that happens in way higher doses and very little time between them..
side effects seem to be so different for everyone... for me the first time i ever had it i felt like i had been hit by a truck once i was finished with a 3 day course of it.. my whole body hurt and i just wanted to lay in bed... but that feeling went away after about 2 days...
but everytime after that it just made me feel better and i dont get that feeling.. it can make some people hyper or moody but those side effects seem to be short lived..
my biggest problem with it is them getting the IV in me .. my veins like to roll and they like to dig.. but IMHO its a small price to pay to speed up a flare...
