Hello everyone,
OK, I had lots of ewcm on day 8 of my cycle. I am usually very dry so it was unusual for me to see all that I had (sorry if TMI). I know that usually means that ovulation is comming right??
I have been using OPK also, and now I am on day 11 and still have nagative results. Why did I have so much ewcm on day 8 when I was supposidly fertal but my OPK is still showing negative on day 11.
Should I go by my ewcm on day 8 or OKP now on day 11 and showing negative??
I am so cunfused with the whole ovulation thing. When does a person REALLY know when they ovulate?? FOR CRYING OUT LOUD
Thanks everyone

I TOTALLY understand! This is my first time tracking my fertility too. I'm currently on cd 14 and the opk still is neg - although the line is getting darker now, but first it was very faint then non existant then faint. My CM has been lotion like for 6 days now. I've also been looking at my saliva. First it was negative, then transition, then negative.
All I can say is - first off, relax.
I personally started to bbt - that seems to be one consistent measure of fertility. BBT with the cm, they should give you a fairly accurate time of o.
Good Luck.

Shawmin, Thanks for the info. I am totally relaxing right now:)
I will just be paitient and continue to check cm and bbt. I just gets frustrating but I do feel calm about it.
Thank you!!

krzy, I know exactly what you are going through. I have done the same thing this month. They still haven't showed that I oed. I think I missed it this month. Isn't that just great. I used opk when I got pg with my ds, and they worked like a charm They just aren't working for me this time. I guess I need to start temping. It's just that everytime I go to buy bbt I think 'well this is going to be my month', and I don't buy one.

My advice - Just buy the bbt...
Pros - they're cheap and can be used as a regular everyday thermometer after the fact.
Cons - given the above pros - I can't really think of any.

krzygrrl21, I think I am in about the same boat as you are here. However, my AF was late last month and didn't start until around day 42 of my cycle. Just 9 days later, I had the EWCM. My cycles are normally 28-29 days but here lately they have been later, which I am assuming is due to all the stress of TTC. *sighs*
I am just so confused as to when I will or should ovulate or if I already did on that 9th day. Being that I was late on AF last month, I assumed I wouldn't ovulate until MUCH later but the EWCM on the 9th day has me SOoOoOo confused! So I am like you, wondering: WAS this OVULATION?

Its all so confusing to put together, but I have to say my best advice of all time is my fertility bible "Taking Charge of your Fertility" by Toni Weschler.
I'm probably not very good at explaining this but here it goes.
As far as EWCM, its a great sign of fertility, and starts to occur days before ovulation. So if you had EWCM, you still may be a few days away from ovulating, but an OPT may not be positive. An OPT shows the presence of the LH hormone that starts to rises a couple of days before you ovulate. OPT can be frustrating if you start to test too early, because, you may think you ovulate at CD14, and start testing at CD11, but really you don't ovulate until CD18, and may have given up testing after a few days in frustration before the test would show a positive. CM is a good indicator of fertility, and your BBT would show a rise after you ovulate. Put that together with a OPT and it will show you when your about to ovulate. If you got CM CD8, then that would be totally normal and a good thing!!

I just wanted to let you ladies know that I started getting EWCM about 5-7 days before I ovulated, and this was very normal for me. Also, it is possible to get some fertile CM for a day or two even before you are getting ready to O and even sometimes several days after O occurs.
I would also strongly suggest BBTing. As soon as I started doing it I got pregnant. It really helped me figure out when O was happening, because my cycle lengths were rarely consistant:)
Good luck!

You guys are awesome on here. ! I have definitely been doing the BBT this month. I actually like it so I can see what my body is doing. I didn't realize that ewcm was the preseeding of O. I thought it meant that O was happening right then, that day.
Also, the OPK still have been showing me a nagative. It is day 14 today and I think maybe I drink to much (not alcohal) and the test gets diluted or something. The only way I can pee is to drink.
Well, I cant really read and completely understand my chart. It is showing two temperature dips and both have a rise of 2 degrees.
One shows 97.4, then jumps to 97.7 (day 8 and 9)
second shows 97.6, then jumps to 97.9 (day 10 and 11)
Are those jumps not significant enought to be considered ovulation?? Otherwise, there has been no other major jumps. Hmmmm
Maybe someone has some insight for me :-)
Meggs and Tigrilla thank you for your insight on the ewcm
Shawmin, how are you doing?? ARe you still showoing negative OPK?? Have you determined your 0 yet? I have'nt. :dizzy:

Krzy- My chart always showed a more significant jump after O. I think my charting site said a typical jump is at least .4 degrees (F).

When you first temp, it kinda seems like a lot of random numbers, but I think you'll see more of a jump. I'm guessing you'll see a number a little higher than 98 when you O. Then it will be above 98 for the most part, and will stay up if you get preg, or will fall back when you get AF. For some people, it drops much lower the day before AF. You might also see a little temp dip around 7dpo. For some people, their temps start to creep up with O, and others see a jump. After you chart for a month, you can tell how long your luteal phase is (between O and AF) so you'll know if your preg right away if your temp stays higher for more days than normal.
