My question is simple: How long are hemorrhoids suppose to last?
I've read that they only last a few days then the swelling goes down and they disappear. They might come back but only swell for a few days at a time. My external hemorroids have been around since before the birth of my son (he's 26 months).
I will say they only swell and become painful with bowel movements but they NEVER disappear completely. Always there.
Anyway, just curious.

Hemorrhoids are like varicose veins--- veins that have lost their elasticity and once that happen they never recover or return to normal.
You can have less problems with hemorrhoids by eating such that you have regular BMs that are soft.
Surgery is the only way to get rid of them.

Pesky problem huh?
I hate them. If they're not burning, they're itching. The itching drives me up the wall.
Mine have been here for about....5 months now I think. Just try not to strain during a BM....let it fall out. I find that helps.
