I am scared to have my 3ed mammogram since I have waited past the 6 months the dr. have recommended. I do have some changes I’ve noticed in my breast, but I don't have Insurance. I am scared that by the time I get Insurance it will be to late. What should I do?

Lillian,
If you call the facility where you are to have your mammogram and talk to them I am sure they will make payment arrangements. We do at our breast facility. If you do not go back, the facility will keep calling and probably send a certified letter. We do that for our protection so no one fall through the cracks. It is not unusual for women to come back for a 6 month follow up on the breast of concern. This is usually done when the Radiologist "thinks" it is probably benign but is not 100% positive. Then after another 6 months many will have you come back to image both breasts and that would be 1 year from your first mammo.

Thank you for responding. I have checked with the office to see if ther are any grants available but I'm not qualified for because I am not over 40. I have checked with other agencies and still the same or I am over income. The health department is my last try before I try to set up a payment plan with the office. I am concerned that if I do have breast cancer, and uninsured, that is a big financial problem.
