View Full Version : Bunion Surgery - Pin Removal? Infection?

I had bunion surgery on December 14th. The doctor did a chevron procedure. I was told the pin would stay in for six weeks unless infection occurred. Yesterday I started to notice a different type of pain while walking. I changed the wrapping on my foot yesterday and it didn't look red. It is hard to tell though! Today I again changed the wrapping and clean the area again. Now it does look a little red. I don't enjoy the pin but don't want it removed too soon. Help! Anyone have any experience with this? I hate the thought of having all the pain of surgery and then having the pin removed too soon and ruining it all.

Do you have a fever or any discharge at that sight? It may or may not be infection. (He will do what is best for your foot)
I would call your doctor and see what he suggests.
Hope this helps!

you probably need to get an antibiotic if it is an infection.

I would think if it was an infection it might feel hot to the touch and/or be oozing and look really red. However a call to your doctor is probably in order.

Good luck.
