Love and War

My SBP averages in the 160's at night and I'm a teenager!!! My doctor had me take a blood test to see how my thyroid gland is functioning as well as my cholesterol and lipids level. He also wants to see my calcium level because I have random muscle twitching. I also have a high pulse that averages in the high 90's/low 100's.
For some reason I have trouble trusting my doc. How the hell can the thyroid gland affect blood pressure? Anyone know what could be the cause of this if it turns out my thyroid is all fine?
And for the record, I am a bit of a nervous/anxious person at times.
EDIT: I come from a family that strongly believes in natural healthcare. Is there anyway to help keep my blood pressure low by natural ways?

Your thyroid can affect your blood pressure for sure because the purpose of your thyroid gland is to literally balance everything in your body including your blood pressure.
It was not until my thyroid stopped producing properly that I ended up with hbp.
A lot of people associate low thryroid or any type of thyroid problem with OLD AGE. That nonsense is just that, "nonsense". My dental hygienist was diagnosed with a thyroid problem at age 10. Her blood pressure was sky high.
Thyroid is very easily treated with a tiny hormone pill daily.
As far as lowering your blood pressure naturally you can do several things, stop taking in a lot of sodium filled foods, eat garlic or take garlic supplements, celery seed extract, and hawthorne berry are also supposed to be very affective.
Your doctor wanting to check your thyroid is very wise - you have to start with the thyroid first to check out many things since it affects and balances everything. Interesting lil organ. ;)

Barbara_Ann,
'supposed to' is not a result.
Of all the above, a high dose of Garlic has on average only reduced BP by a little under 10%.
Now, to some-one with a BP of even 170/90, that will only reduce levels to 153/81 at the VERY best. Still not good enough to prevent all the problems associated with high BP.
