View Full Version : Eyelid Issue - Stye and Dryness

Hey there,
About three days ago, I woke up to the corner of my eyelid, hurting every time I blinked. When, I finally got out of bed to check, I saw in the mirror that the corner part of my eyelid had become swollen pretty large and was reddish/purpleish. At first, I thought it was a bug bite and so I rubbed a little ice on it gently just to help with the swelling and layed back down. I woke up to it hurting just as badly, if not worse and still extremely swollen. After further investigation and seeing no real spot that looked like a bug bite, I realized that maybe it was the beginning of a stye. I've never had a full blown stye before, since the very few times one has even dared to crop up, I've fought it off with a warm washcloth for about an hour and it's always gone away completely. But, this area is an akward one. It's the actual eyelid, but more towards the corner and harder to reach.

I did what I always do, though and put hot compresses on it. I used a washcloth and not gauze, though. I realize, gauze might've been better. D: Either way, it's been three days an the swelling is only beginning to go down now. I can still feel the bump a bit, but the eye no longer hurts or feels like something's in it. So, I think the stye is slowly going away. But, now, the area where it was/still kind of is, is very chapped and cracked. Kind of like how your lower lip looks in the winter if not hydrated properly. I think this is due to the excess of water on it for three days and the fact that our water is way too chlorinated. I should've heated bottled water prehaps.

I'm not sure if the stye is still there. When I touch the area, if I try hard, I can still feel a bit of a lump. But, I'm nervous to put more warm compresses on it, for fear that it will just dry out the corner of my lid more and make it even more cracked and dry. I can feel how dry it is everytime I blink, it feels weird and looks weird, too. And stings, in a chapped way.

Any advice on what I should do, if this is common after having an (almost) stye or after using warm compresses and since it's only on the corner where the stye was/is, I know it's not another condition. I'm positive it's due to the amount of warm water. Kind of like getting pruney in a bath, but it's staying that way. D:

Any help at all would be incredibly appreciated. I apologize for the lengthy post. x3
