I'm sure there are things they can do to give you some relief. We purchased a small fan that my husband keeps on his side of the bed, and it helps a bit. wesil 01-06-2007, 10:59 AM The Dr started me on LUPRON, on a shot every four months, basis. The "hot flashes" are driving me NUTS! Can hardly sleep at night and sweating during the day, too. Anyone out there been able to get relief for this? I TAKE HARMONE SHOTS EVERY 3 MONTHS. I TAKE ZOLADEX AND IT GIVES ME SOME HOT FLASHES, BUT NOT BAD. YOUR DOCTOR MAY CAN SWITCH YOU TO ANOTHER HARMONE AND SEE IF IT HELPS. I HAD A RADICAL PROSTATECTOMY OF THE PROSTATE ON JUNE 28,2006 & THE DOCTOR WAS NOT ABLE TO GET ALL THE CANCER, SO I HAVE HAD 35 TREATMENTS OF RADIATION AND TAKING THE HARMONE EVERY 3 MONTHS. ABOUT THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE IS INCONTINENCE, URGENCY TO GO TO THE BATH ROOM. I HAVE TO WEAR A PAD ALL TIME. IF ANYONE KNOWS ANY HELP FOR THIS PROBLEM, PLESE LET ME KNOW. GOOD LUCK ,DONBART ON FINDING HELP FOR THE "HOT FLASHES". WESIL. koyla86 01-06-2007, 04:17 PM Breathing will help to control the cancer and the side effects. These exercises will definitely help. Do all or do some, but do it and you will feel better. We do not breathe enough. The Yoga Pranayam (breathing exercises) are: Bhastrika - Take a long deep breath into the lungs(chest not tummy) via the nose and then completely breathe out through the nose.Duration upto 5 minutes. Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for maximum of 30 minutes upto twice a day. Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently. Anulom Vilom - Deep Breath-in through left nostril keeping right nostril closed then - Breath-out through right nostril keeping left nostril closed then -Deep Breath-in through right nostril keeping left nostril closed then - Breath-out through left nostril keeping right nostril closed and repeat this cycle for 30 minutes maximum upto twice a day. Tips : Breathe into lungs not into stomach. Do not hurry. Do it slowly. Rest whenever needed (in any pranayam). Can be done in sitting position, standing or lying in bed(if bed-bound).Keep tissues handy, as a lot of mucous from lungs will be coming through the nose. Pranayam is about getting more oxygen into the lungs and sending it around the body via blood to aid in body repair. With extra oxygen more platelets and red blood cells are formed to build up the immune system.Extra fat is burned to reduce weight. All this happens naturally without side-effects.People with all types of ailments including incurable ones will benefit. This has been practised by sages, but has been simplified and brought to the masses by Ramdev. Suggested daily pranayam(breathing): For Leukaemia, cancer,HIV AIDS do Bhastrika for 5 minutes, Kapalbhati for 30 minutes twice a day, Anulom Vilom for 30 minutes twice day. Notice improvements within days. Twice a day pranayam is required to create extra blood cells to fight the disease. Tell the medical advisor that you are doing pranayam and also tell others. Only by trying you will discover the benefits and then tell others. Keep a note of how much pranayam you do and how it is helping you.
