Hi..Im new here and came to find some information and /or some encouraging words during this horrible time my family is going thru with our Dad..2 weeks ago he had a triple bypass and stroked out on the table...he has not fully come out of it..meaning he opens his eyes and stares at the ceiling..doesnt seem to know we are there..no response to our voices at all...on day 2 he did say no when we asked if he was in pain but thats it since then..he does move around..legs.arms and his head but just seems to be in his ow world..:-( he has now a low grade fever-part of his incision has opened and he doesnt seem to be healing..also doc aid his kideneys may be failing! He grimaces in pain when moved-its just a horrible sight!!:-( Has anyone gone through this and can give me an idea of what his prognosis would be? are we loosing him??

Thanks for any replies....

It seems like he will have to recover from the bypass surgery before he can have therapy for the stroke. My husband had a massive stroke in Sept. 2006 and was in rehab for 5 weeks. He is doing great and I wish the same for your husband. Be very patient and it will happen.

Thanks Hec..he actually is healing better and quite fast since they recently put on dialysis...things are looking up..he's still in a 'stupor"..right frontal lobe was damaged in the stroke so now I am doing some research online to what we can expect from that......
