Hi all,

I've been on the ttc board but after 2 years of ttc with 1 missed m/c and my 30th b'day coming up this year I've approached my Dr for help. I'm going for a blood test on CD21 and just wondered if anyone had any insight as to what they will test for and what happens next?

Could someone also tell me what tests I should be expecting/asking for at this early stage? I get the feeling this may be a long road I have started!

Thanks for any help,

Princi xxx

Hi Princi!!!

Welcome to the board!!!! I know approaching the BIG "30" is nerve racking in itself but with IF it always hurts even more. I am so glad you are seeking treatment. The 21 day b/w is to check your hormone levels and determine if you are ovulating. Are you seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist/ RE? If not, since you have been TTC for 2 yrs you may want a specialist like an RE.
The will probably do blood work (b/w), U/S and possibly an HSG, which is when they put blue ink up through the uterus and follopian tubes to see if you have any blockage in your tubes.

I am so sorry about your miscarriage I had one too and I don't wish that kind of pain on anyone. Since you have already been pregnant they may try a more conservative approach on you but I think it wouldn't hurt to have b/w, u/s, have your husband checked and maybe have an HSG done. Whatever ever your MD suggest I hope that it works for you. You will find a lot of support here and I wish you all the best on your new journey. May it lead you to a BFP this year!!!!!

Baby dust blowing your way!!!

Hi Princi

Welcome to the board, you've come to the right place for support and tons of information. Everyone here has gone through a lot of different treatments and experiences and it helps us so that we all can make more informed questions to our drs and also to understnad what they are telling us. There is a stick thread at the beginning of this boarrd that will give you all of the abbreviations that people are using, there's also a thread called stats and most people list their history there so you'll see who you are talking with.

Anyway, best of luck and ask whatever you'd like to know.

Welcome to the IF board, Princi. I remember seeing you in the ttc board. Here's my advice.

Make a checklist of all the questions you may wanna ask your RE. Example, the clinic's success rate, the tests you need to go through - hsg, lap, etc, the medication you'll be put on to stimulate your ovaries - oral or injectible, the procedures - iui, ivf, etc.

Wish you all the best in your IF journey.

Hi Princi,

Welcome to the board. You'll find lots of support as you start your journey. Sounds like you already got all the advice from previous posters but I just wanted to say  and welcome!

Thanks everyone, all your advice and support is much appreciated. Apart from my CD21 hormone test I'm still clueless about what will happen next but I'm hoping I'll find my answers here!

deluca - I'm in the UK and I've only got a GP at the moment but after this blood test I'm going to go to a private clinic for 'quicker' treatment. My bio-clock is ticking too loudly in my ears to wait any longer!!!

Thanks hopeful - I'll read the 'stick' and 'stats' threads over the weekend, that'll be my homework!

Babywish - started to make a list and it's enormous already. I'm thinking about buying a book on it all!

lahc1 - thanks for the warm welcome

Wishing everyone lots of love and luck,

Princi xxx
