I remember when I first got Genetial herpes about 5-6 years ago. My first outbreak was the worst and I was scared to dealth. I didn't know what was going on. But since my 1st outbreak I must admit that it has never been as bad again.

Now I seem to get maybe 1-2 genetial herpes outbreaks a year. (if that) Im not and have never taken any meds like Valtrax or anything. Okay...but i guess i need to get to my question uh. LOL

I have read that Lysine can help herpes out ALOT! And now im going thru another out break. (and is it me, but I think i had an outbreak around this time last year too) But does Lysine help only for cold sores or could it possibly help for genetial herpes too?

I've read that Lysiene is primarily effective for those with HSV-1. Now I'm no PHD, just passing along wht I've read here on the forums..

I can only add this.
I exercise quite a bit and began taking the supplement L_arginine. NOw we all know that that can cause them to come out. I may have never known I had it if I didn't take it.. Maybe. Well, I certainly stopped and I began taking Lysine. I'm still on Valtrex but plan on stopping that as well.. as soon as evidence from my second outbreak it completely gone. I really hope Lysine works for HSV2. I am new to this myself.

im going to have to do some more personal testing on this "Lysiene" thing myslef. I started taking 1000MG lysiene a few days ago but my ob has already cleared up or clearing up.

BUT im just not sure if its the lysiene or is it just clearning on its own. I kind of waited too late to know if its the Lysiene thats actually working. So what im going to do is test this thing out on my next outbreak.

Personally i'd not write lysine off when it comes to genital herpes as what works for one doesn't always work for another and vica versa.

For me, lysine has been beneficial for the common cold sore at my mouth, but when it comes to genital type 2 i have found lysine to do zero for me. That is not to say it might not work for someone else in that area.
