View Full Version : How nervous should I be...

I have never really thought that I could have contracted HIV until recently...About 7-8 years ago, ( I was only 11) I had an older neighbor who had always pressured me to kiss him (tongue and all) and he would put his hands in my pants. I was young and scared and I haven't told anyone until recently I told my mom. I know that there is low risk of exposure here but a couple of weeks ago I noticed that at the back of my tongue I had a white patch and some red and my throat and tonsils looked really agitated. I went to the doctor and they said I just had pharyngitis and I shouldn't worry. I have a doctor's appointment in two weeks but I have really been on edge about everything..practically going crazy. So I was just wondering what you all thought the chances were. I guess I just need some assurance or something.

apparently kissing is no risk, so it looks like you need not to worry. :)

Ok sun,

What this guy did was wrong, you know that and he will know that. But to worry yourself about HIV over this incident really isnt necessary, the risk of contracting HIV from kissing is basically zero, theoretically its possible, but there has been no reported cases of this ever happening. As for the "hands down your pants" this is also classed as extremely low risk, if not no risk at all, i find it highly unlikely you have contracted HIV from this incident.

The white patch on your tongue is normal, we all have this but most of us dont take note until we read symptoms on the net then go looking for them. Trust me, i'm an expert at symptom hunting.

I'm sure when you speak to your doctor, he will give you more reasurance than any person on this forum can. My suggestion is that you just go get a HIV test done, not because i believe you could have HIV, but to put your mind at rest, the mind is powerful and it can put the fear of god into.

Good luck, and stop worrying

Don't worry, it's highly unlikely you got HIV. However, I strongly suggest you look into taking legal action because what your neighbor did to you was absolutely wrong.

Hey, Thank you all for posting me back. It brings my mind at ease, well except for the theoretically part. I just get really scared... my mom, you all, and an HIV counselor have all told me there is little or no risk..

I would take legal action but that neighbor moved and I don't have much information on who he was. It's too bad though. But again thank you all.
