Question:
I have a 25 year old daughter with Aplastic Anemia. She drank two beers and it litterly knocked her out. She didn't remember anything. Does anyone know what the impact if alcohol on someone with this disease? She takes Procrit and Cyclosporine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I do not know how alcohol effects people with aplastic anemia. I have a son that has severe aa. He has had 3 ATG treatments followed with cycosporine. Everytime they take him off the medication I about loose him. The last treatment was in May of 2003. I took him to NIH and they said to keep him on the cycosporine for five years. He is now a 17 year old. He ran away last night and does not have his meds. I'm freaking out. I know that he is smoking marijuana and possibly drinking alcohol. His kidney's have shut down once a couple of years ago. Please, someone help me.

I'm really sorry to hear about your son... Since he is a minor and in need of medical attention/medication, can't you get help from the police? Have you contacted all his friends, relatives and places he frequents to maybe locate him, or get some ideas/help? I'm not sure how something like this works with the authorities, but I thought if you had a run away that needs medication, or treatment, they won't make you wait x amount of days for him to show up to file a report and start an investigation?
Hope you find him real soon!!!! Your in my thoughts--Good Luck!
